I think that's inevitable anyways...won't change how I feel about the "side" I've picked.

Yea i hope he didnt for both of their sakes, but i cant be on a side untill facts come out. Either it didnt happen, or kane keeps upping his price to keep her mouth shut is my opinion.

It is becoming annoying that no charges have been filed leaving people to speculate/bash one side or the other. If a rape took place and she isnt just out for the money then dont you think she would want some justice for his actions that isnt green?

My bet is we never find out, and he will play hockey no matter what happened.

It's not so easy to say that. People on that side of the accusations get raked through the mud on the stand. Not sure it's worth it. Not that it would be easy to live with what happened, obviously, but I'd think it *might* be easier, plus be given the funds for counseling and such. It's usually a complete character assassination on the stand

Murray has consistently said that he was looking to build with players in the 24-26 yr. old range and he did so by trading for Evander Kane, Deslauriers, and Ryan O'Reilly (all 24 yrs. old) and adding 25 yr. old Zach Bogosian. He gave up some prospects and a pretty good NHL regular in Tyler Myers in the process but he was able to fill the void he was given and now has a new core that's young and has a wealth of NHL experience despite just entering their prime

You're underselling it, he gave up quite a few of our very best. Lehner, Kane and O'Reilly haven't played a single game for this team yet so we can't really be sure that void has even been filled?

What's to say those prospects wouldn't have filled those holes and done an even better job that what was brought in return?

I admire his willingness to make these bold moves but they're called bold for a reason. He's either going to come out of this looking like a genius or a moron.

Well the longer it goes without him being charged, the more it looks like that.

The longer it goes without him being charged the less i care what actually happened too, because she will get paid and no one will ever know what actually happened.

If this were to go to trial(which I speculate is highly unlikely) it would be a blood bath in the courtroom of both sides slamming each others character.

This girl, even if this doesn't make it to trial and her name isn't printed in the papers is still going to have a rough time living in Buffalo after this. This otherwise social butterfly is essentially living in hiding as we speak, I can't imagine she's enjoying that very much.

I hear that, just depends on how bad she cares about making him pay for his actions.

Settling for a few million isnt making him pay in my opinion, so character will be assassinated either way. Just not in court.

When this is said and done I bet both parties will have wished they never got involved with each other. The girl getting the worse end. Even if she gets the speculated 1-2 million settlement, I could picture the ridicule from locals. All your social media has to be 100% locked down. You have to be paranoid of everyone. I could just picture her standing outside of a club or something and people driving by and yelling obscenities. Not fun.

Paul Cambria would destroy that girls hopes and dreams on a witness stand and have people thinking she commited murder by the end of it... Sad to say. But true

I don't know who this girl is, or what her reputation is, but given that this is Buffalo and everybody knows everybody here, it probably wouldn't be too hard to find out if you tried.

That being said, assuming (hypothetically) this girl was wronged in some way, be it rape or something else, the "gold digger" label is still unfair even if there is a financial settlement. Rape cases are ugly. As stated above, the victim's character is most often attacked brutally in trial, which means she runs a risk here. If her reputation is taken to the cleaners, justifiably or not, and the perpetrator is cleared of all charges, she goes through all of that for nothing. Her attacker is set free, and her character has been severely damaged if not destroyed. At least with a financial settlement, reparation is made in some way, even if it's far less than what the perpetrator deserves.

And this is why rape goes unreported as much as it does. Sometimes it's easier for the woman to just go on living her life without all the questions/interrogations about what happened.

Which is very sad. Like you said a few days ago, the liars also make it horrible on the women(or men in some cases) who do speak up.

It's a horrible situation no matter how you look at it. Sexual assaults are probably the least reported type of crime committed. And as a woman, I can understand why.

It's not entirely wrong. Not gonna lie, men are disgusting in most cases. Especially now with all the amount of electronic communication that goes on.
