You weren't, probably not. But like I said, some were very high on him as a permanent top-6 role this year, especially after the Despres trade and because Lovejoy is apparently the worst defenseman in the NHL.

I cannot fathom anyone who thinks Harrington would get a spot this season... and I've defended Lovejoy (the player, not the trade) a ton. hes a 4-6 Dman, who was pushed into top pairing minutes... if he didn't look bad, I think that'd be a the talk of the town.

Wasn't there a 3rd triplet in those HERO charts? What happened to that?

Pittsburgh with lots to prove after going out in the 1st round again, and an off-season of ignoring their blueline and further stacking their forward lines.

Agreed. There was absolutely no point in getting Kessel. They got rid of their best checking center to. So no idea what they are thinking. Unless that Crosby line can demolish in the playoffs they will be one and done in the playoffs.
- Another snapper head from Buffalo.

It's funny (above), what other fans think of the Pens, 2 opinions above from Eks blog.

Stoke the fire people, there's Sutter rumblings resurfacing........

So, I'm assuming bartley's done, for good? I know he made some rather unpopular remarks and tried a fake account or something. Shame, he was always interesting/

Now that's just going to infuriate people - we've got an idea that doesn't need changing about ol Suttsy, take back that piece of vile & file it never to be shown again!

& no we won't be asking about Kessels physical abilities after being put on his arse by the weakest man in the NHL no, no we won't.

Well, in Kessel's defense, he was eyeing up a sandwich he saw a guy in the first row eating, so his mind was wandering a bit. I'm sure Sutter would have bounced off of him and flown 15-40 feet backwards had Kessel not been preoccupied.

Pittsburgh has been notoriously thin forward for a very long while with the exception of the Frankenstien team. The idea that we're stacked at forward is a myth perpetuated by the fact that we have two of the top five best forwards in the league. After that there is a steep drop off. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am amazingly tired of playing bottom six players like Winnik, Gibbons, Comeau, Cook, Megna, et all with our two super stars.

Did we need to add another super star? No. But we needed a first line caliber winger for sure and the super low price Kessel came at was way worth it and a no brainer. Taken in a bubble, the Kessel aquasitin let us play a guy like Kunitz or Dupuis who would have other wise been playing top 6 in a bottom 6 role, so there was plenty of point in acquiring Kessel as it helped our depth and added much needed skill to the top 6. The other smaller moves such as the Sutter trade/Fehr singing and the Cullen signing went even further in that regard.

You're right, we didn't address the defense but there was nothing to really do. Grabbing Franson would have been very nice but even the Franson supporters like myself don't want to lock him up for 5 or so years at a 5 mil or so cap hit when we've got cheaper option. If Scuderi wasn't on the team that would be fine, but as of now, Dumoulin needs to play Cole needs an expanded role. If it's dump then we have plenty of time before the deadline to reassess.

EDIT: oh I see. Those are from ek's blog. Well they should stop being children and come on here and fight about it

I also feel that Pouliot will be best served to play bottom pairing minutes this year. I just don't feel he is ready for top 4 usage, he still has a lot to learn defensively. He can play 2nd PP unit and earn his stripes in that way. The depth of this defense corps is in a quandary because of Scuderi and his contract, the value with where he is expected to perform on the depth chart is killing this team and preventing them from signing somebody more useful for top 4 minutes.
