CGY didn't sit on their ass like the Avs last summer, they added a very good top 4 dman and a OK 2nd liner/elite 3rd liner. Plus they get Giordano back and Bennett for a full season. I agree that their sh% has to regress a bit but the upgrades should help offset that plus they have guys like Monahan/Gaudreau/Hudler who are just naturally higher quality shooters so their shots tend to be more valuable than most players(this is where Corsi can be a bit flawed).

Alex Tanguay is also one of those anti-Corsi players, his sh%has always been "too high".

I expect CGY to be similar to last year. Agreed on SJ, the off-ice issues there are a mess. LA should rebound a bit. Agree on EDM, they'll be better but I's be surprised if they finish higher than 10th in the West unless Talbot plays like a stud.

I really don't have faith in the Canucks fanbase to support the team through a full rebuild/tank. There are a lot of casual/bandwagon fans in the city. The Lions are a good example of a couple rough seasons and attendance has dropped. As much as I wish we were, Vancouver isnt a sports city

It is a big season for those decisions. I keep on thinking there won't be as many pending ufa's moved at tdl than what people want to see.

Vrbata, Hamhuis, and Prust should all garner a respectable return. I will not be surprised if Hamhuis and Prust both get extensions.

Looking at the salary cap, it looks strange to see Sutter and Tanev as the guys with the longest contracts.

I think the defense will more than compensate for goal. This is like Detroit of a few years ago, Osgood was mediocre and they could win with him because they had allstar calibre defensemen. I dont see an Avs type regression here
