Well let's now hope that there is enough help for Sid in the leadership category!

JR has turned this ship into a carrier loaded to the hilt!

Now I just hope that all the newbies can play together without any face slapping, hair pulling or rock throwing. There's Lego for everyone.

Without going into what is in the hands of police, would you be worried as a Hawks fan?

There was a blog yesterday about their changes & where they are at, didn't realise that they only snuck into the playoffs by 3 points last season. Their team is nowhere near as good as it was & without Kruger even worse & over the cap still????

So when can we say they are a team in transit - not even mentioning the current news of the day?

I like the signing. More depth and Farnham is still around for the Flyers.

I misread my phone when the notification came through and thought it said "Matt Cooke" and I almost cried.

Yeah I was driving home and that is exactly what I thought. I almost pulled my wheel into oncoming traffic.

They very easily could lose Kane, Sharp and Saad. No overcoming all that.

Whats the cap hit for a player in jail?

Pretty sure that is grounds for termination of the contract based on the "material breach" clause.

So the elephant in the room, Rob Scuderi.

I brought this up a while ago, would anyone else here deal ANA's 2nd rounder with Scuderi to NJ or wherever would take him? Give us back a 5-6th, no salary retention either. That would allow us to sign Franson on one year deal. We got that pick for free. We dealt our third we got from compensation for it. Why not? We still have ours correct? Or no? Anyways I would still do it. Take a look below. Feast your eyes.

Perron Crosby Kessel
Kunitz Malkin Hornqvist
Dupuis Bonino Ferh
Plotnikov Cullen Bennett

Letang Maatta
Cole Franson
Dumoulin Pouliot
Lovejoy Clendening Andersson etc

The mans in denial (but it was pointed out he said the exact same thing about Bonino when they get him )

- DDM-Coga

had to google it

"We're going to get Bonino, he scored 22 goals last year. So if he can get 20 for us, he gives us goals next year. The other thing is.. our coach wants Bonino. The coach really likes Bonino and wants him. Bonino is a distributor, he makes players around him better because he can get them the puck."

forwards are solid, defense has a terrific top pairing, but if you take out franson, move pouliot up and put scuderi in on the bottom pairing then I'm not wild about the defense.

They don't even have their current roster anywhere near set. We probably won't know what happens with Kane for a while. I wonder if the league or the Hawks will suspend him. I'm thinking so.. They are truly (frank)ed as of now. Pretty sad

he can pick 6 teams to go to. likely 6 closest to the cap to make the odds of trade minimal.

Agreed. I mean our D scares me a little right now, if 58 or 3 go down we could be in some serious trouble. Franson is not only an upgrade on Scuderi, he and Cole also are the top line fillers in case of injury. Based off last season, I would much rather have those two as top 4 D and guys who can slide up to the top pairing rather than using DP and Cole, and then calling up Lovejoy and either Clendening or Andersson. If we could pull off the Scuderi/Franson this would be the best team in the Crosby era without a doubt

I know, but Shero is his buddy. There's a few familiar faces in management in NJ. He wants to be on the East coast as well. There's a chance, and NJ is our absolute best bet IMO.

Was just about to say that. His f'ing no trade clause really sucks. I can't see him waiving to go to NJ or FLA even if we get the team to agree on a trade. The only possible way is a sit down with HCMJ and GMJR saying he will be in the pressbox every night if he doesnt accept a trade.

I acutally read somewhere that we can send him to the AHL and save like $900k. If that could get us a Zidlicky or someone, I'd consider that. Not sure how accurate that AHL thing is though..

I'm still not 100% sold on Franson. He's the right size and handedness but can he really be a solid number 4 or top pair guy in case of injuries? Better than Scuderi, yes, but good enough defensively? I dont know...

That's entirely speculative. No one knows what Scuderi's NTC is. http://www.generalfanager.com/players/1622

Bottom line:

The penguins will be a force this season to win it all again and not the pretenders they have been in seasons past.

Phil Kessel provides instant high end scoring ability with the ability to impact games at any time. With a legit center to play with he may end up getting 50-60 goals this season.

Improved bottom six that fits the eastern conference.
