It has started already. 500 speeding tickets on the 198. See a cop has pulled someone over near ontario/skillen street almost every day.
- cabin

The 198 is different. There was essentially a mandate to enforce the new 30mph law as part of the reactionary grandstanding that went on after that accident. Tragic as it was, that kid fell asleep, plain and simple, and that wasn't going to change whether the speed limit was 30mph or 70mph.

Pretty much, but when a lawyer won't flat out deny it, it points to something being accurate (IMO). If there was no story at all, I imagine a lawyer would flat out state how his client has not been involved in anything.

Yep, and eventually we'll find out.

All they really needed to do was add the guard rails. That's all that could have prevented this. I do believe they have their own traffic court now. They showed it on TV. Problem is, they only own 5 radar detectors.

When I used to live in the Elmwood Village, I drove down the 198 to get to/from work everyday. I couldn't tell you how many times I drove through there thinking to myself how dangerous it was that there were cars traveling that fast next to a park with no barrier between the two.

It's crazy for me to think that a tragedy had to happen before the city realized that exact same thing.

What they did was mandated by Cuomo, not the city.

this is good information to know.. i am actually heading back to Buffalo "area" tonight for the weekend. are they going crazy on the 90 or 400 pulling people over too? there is that section of the 400 that is 55 (i think) right at the 90. I typically drive about 70/75 on it..
- IndianaSabresFan

Usually pretty safe there. now its 65 before the Union rd exit.

Changes would have been made whether Cuomo said to make them or not. Once a little kid gets killed, something has to be done.

That said, I don't think it's necessary for that road to be 30 mph once you get past Elmwood headed toward the 190.

It's "Speed Week" right now, so the cops are gonna be out in full force on the highways. Saw it on FB yesterday.

Yeah, I noticed the State Police out in droves this week. It probably explains why they haven't been doing those truck inspections by the Hamburg tolls.

I have to laugh at the "move over law" though. While I understand what they're trying to do, it kind of insults my intelligence. So now, they can nab the "slow poke" for not moving over and the guy riding his ass for speeding at the same time. It really is a brilliant revenue generator for our public servants.

Speed Week. Heh. What a crock of poop.

There's days those assclowns are parked every 3 miles on the 90 and days where I can drive to Long Island without seeing a single car.

Quit pulling people over for going 76 and start focusing on real crime.

The move over law is actually a law that forces you to move to a different lane than an emergency vehicle.

Good. They (frank)ing deserve it.

In theory I agree, but anyone who thinks this is anything more than an excuse to nab more people for something is kidding himself.

I changed my response based on a correction. In saying that. People going 65 in the fast lane should be shot.

Oh, I saw something on Facebook yesterday about a law regarding people in the left lane with a faster vehicle behind them.

My favorite is when a policeman tailgates you in the left lane when there's a car to your right, so you speed up to get by the car and move to the right and get out of his way...and then he pulls you over for speeding.

Yup. Learned that a long time ago. Still got a warning about it. But now, he can gate me all (frank)ing day, I won't go more than 5 over. And if he snags you, go ahead and tell him that he was dangerously close to your vehicle. That oughta shut his bumhole mouth.

I have two pet peeves in life that I believe should permit me to punch the violator immediately, directly on the nose, without any consequence whatsoever.

1. Jackholes who drive in the left lane, slowly, when nobody is in the right lane.

2. People who take more than 7 items into the express lane at Wegmans. (By the way, 10 cups of yogurt are not "1 item" unless they are connected in some kind of carton.)

EDIT:

Also, those idiot loser bartenders who say things like "Don't you think you've had enough, buddy?" and cant tell when a guy is just unwinding and having a little fun.

I constantly drive the 90 from Albany back to Buffalo... #1 should totally be an acceptable reason for violence.
