So you think Boston is going to give up the best player in this deal (Marchand) along with an established winger AND a 1st for an overweight pending UFA, an unproven prospect and a 2nd?

You guys are entitled to your opinion but if the Bruins aren't ravaged by injuries and Carey Price doesn't have a hof season I bet the B's finish better than the habs. Mtl forward group is bubble team caliber
- Shaundre93

Not trying to take the Habs' side here, but based on recent history, I'm guessing he is going to have a HOF season. The guy is unbelievable.

What trade would you do to take Quebec off our hands?
Canada is accepting offers.

Aren't all provinces north of the states?

I am actually north of part of Ontario here in Michigan. But yes, for the most part.

Way to much for big Buff who is UFA at the end of the season... 2016 first pick and a Eriksson...the good thing with Buff that's he can play defense and winger, if a young Boston D can be on the roster, maybe Colin Miller or Morrow, Big Buff can play winger or defense depends of the situation were you need experience, or on the powerplay

Boston traded away a young 22 franchise defense man for a mid first and two seconds. Anything is possible.

Let's see, Boston traded away a player who didn't want to resign, for a 1st and 2 seconds, instead of having him offer sheeted and getting a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. (IF the offer sheet was a 7 million dollar deal, which it doesn't seem as though it would have been)

Yeah, I can live with that.

I'm curious to see some links or reliable sources that confirm he did not want to re-sign.

Just curious. When exactly did Hamilton become a "franchise" DMan?
I watched app. 95% of his pro career and never once did it I think the Bruins have a stud franchise guy. I always thought here is a guy who COULD be a solid top 4 guy for years but he isn't even that yet. So he goes from a player with plenty to improve on to be counted on as a true top 4 guy to a "franchise" player? Also seen the words "corner stone" and "stud" defensemen used to describe him. He seemed to be transformed into this kind of player in June through the media and Bruin haters.

There is more to the story with Hamilton. He gained the reputation in Junior as being needy and into himself. The needs of the team did not outweigh the needs of Dougie in his eyes and this attitude leaves him as not the most likeable guy in a dressing room. I would guess he was called out more than once by Bruin teammates resulting in him no longer wanting to be part of this organization. Hamilton was traded not because of cap space or difference in opinion on contract worth. He was dealt because HE no longer wanted to be called out by players on the team. Players that let's not forget have actually won a championship (see 2011 Hab fans!). Still a ton of great leadership and talent on this Bruins team. Hamilton will be replaced and the D unit could be much better than it was in 14-15.

What is a reliable source really?
Some very close friends employed by the Niagara Ice Dogs who had daily interaction with him all said the same thing. He was needy in junior. Treated the training staff like they were his personal masseuse's regardless if he needed treatment or not. I would expect that attitude wears thin quickly in a pro locker room.

Reasonable logic in isolation.

Complete fails when you see the isles basically got equivalent value for Griffin Reinhart.

Edit: that and an offer sheet 1st has the potential to be a lottery pick.

Where did you get all this BS? Conjecture and hearsay, that's all it is.

He's playing somewhere else and the Bruins have moved on, I suggest we all do. The subject was Byfuglien to Boston...

No point in arguing this completely logical point.

They have ONE report that he didn't want to sign in Boston from a team, that's unknown, and now in Boston most fans have accepted that as the Bible.

It's called contract negotiating..............

This Hamilton thing is a (frank)ing joke and a bigger joke than the Seguin ordeal. But most Boston fans have gotten soft over the last 15 years........understandable.
-------------

How much do you guys think Byfuglien will get as a free agent.

He is 30 now and likely has only one more BIG contract left. So I would assume he is going for a bigger payday.

5 to 6 years at $6-to-$7 million per?

How are we going to sign him to a contract like that........and he isn't really worth it either.

Oh boy, kinda have the feeling it will more like 48-50M over 6 year

"more to come...one thing is for certain I can't remember a year when NHL teams had more unfinished business this late in the summer..."

what unfinished business??? Every team roster is basically set. Except for like 4 ufa's who haven't signed yet, there aren't going to be any roster changes until training camp. Arbitration just finished yesterday. Besides the possibility of trades (which exists every year). What the hell are you talking about?

Well in all fairness, really thought somebody would have been stoopid and overpaid big time on Franson by now !

Lol, an Islanders fan with enough balls to talk some smack. Haven't seen many of you in a while, how's that 22 year playoff series victory drought comin' along?

We got plenty to be proud of, including a Bruins team that will return to its Cup contender form as it had been for the previous 4 seasons, and I'm confident we'll see another Cup in Boston soon. The Pats are awesome, as you know, and the greatest team and QB in the history of the game will be defending their 4th Superbowl. Good luck actually beating someone next post-season, you'll need it. Hope you're not a Jets fan

There MUST be some reason why he's still unsigned. And received little playing time. Something the GMS know that the general public does not. Aside from being overrated. Either he's asking WAY too much or the league has dirt on him. There are enough teams needing defense (ex. Edmonton, Toronto even) that he should have been signed by now. I suspect he has a KHL offer in n his pocket and is waiting to see if anyone will match it
