Benning hopes to have Sutter signed to an extension in "next few days." #Canucks

Ohh God

This is going to be good. The guy is Overpaid as it is.

I would much rather they take the wait and see approach with him. Sign him to a short contract later in the season if he looks to be a good fit.

These rumors are not going to help the suicide watch that's been going on.

I think Suter is better than Bonino. I feel more confident playing Corrado over Clandenning... none of the picks are players yet... so I agree with Vantel... but cant deny we gave up too much.

We gave up a wrist shot for a better skater who's on the good side of 50% in the circle. He's defensively more sound than Bonino although I cant say I've watched him enough to take notice. I'll take Suter and Horvat's strong faceoffs over that seldom on target rocket that Bonino has.... Bonino skates like he's on mescaline. I think we will be happy with the switch.

From last thread where I was forgotten and left behind.

Ha, lost enough big fish at the boat to be standing ankle deep in tears.

I was up at Chilko River a week ago. Outstanding dry fly fishing in one of the most prettiest places in the province. The big Golden Stones were hatching and my little jet boat was perfect for that section of upper river. Got to catch a boatload of trout on my new 5wt GLoomis.

How many times watching Bonino skate this past season did you think he was hurt? He is so easy to spot on the ice because of his his unorthodox style. Strange really.

2016 OS for MacKinnon would rock my world.
Morgan Reilly or Seth Jones also.
Make a play at Seabrook.

JB needs to maneuver 1-2 more NTC's still.
Sutter @3.7-4m i figure

Do you mean why was I using a second window?

I do it that way when I'm several pages back because it brings you to the end of the thread and I have have to back track. I stopped reading the threads backwards when I quit drinking...

My internet really sucks. I live out of town with no internet service. I run a turbo stick off a modem beside a cel signal booster. HB is one of the worse sites when you have bad net with all the flash player adds etc.. I find it easier to read with one window and reply with the other. It reducing the amount of clicks which typically result in page lag. If I'm caught up and on the last page with everyone... one window is fine.

- boonerbuck

install adblock plus, ghostery and noscript and then you don't get any flash or advertisements. you won't need any additional window and it might make life easier. if you are using firefox/ chrome you can install any of those (its called no script lite in chrome)...

His qualifying offer was 832 300 so he got an extra 60g's. Whateves its a good deal imo. Unless this is sarcasm then disregard. I forgot it was tuesday.

I don't like this trade cuz of the draft picks. Why did JB have to give up a 2nd for a 3rd when he's taking on load of salary... that extra money should make up the difference in Sutter and Bonino...

Benning should know better than to make a trade on a Tuesday. What a fool.

Baertschi for one year at 900k is a good deal all things considered. a cheap top 6 player who has a lot of upside. we could do worse for 900k...

i'm ambivalent about JB so far. didn't like his move with Garrison and wasting the value in Bieksa until he was on the decline. If he'd moved Bieksa instead of Garrison we might have even got a couple of 2nd rounders instead of the mediocre return we got for Garrison (one lame 2nd rounder turned into Vey) or the 3rd we got for Bieksa...

The draft picks are bad optically, but they'll probably only be a couple of spots apart. They barely matter. But Bonino and Clendenning and taking on salary?

Benning definitely didn't pay the iron price...

The draft picks burn me up a little as well. Clendening he obviously got a real look once he got here and thought otherwise of him. I didn't dislike Bonino but I wasn't sold on him either. Sutter is a bigger right handed center. His potential is also still high.

I don't hate everything Benning has done but I am also not sold on it either. Seeing the Sven deal I think its good. Other moves I will continue to hold judgment on.

"He was an [alternate] captain in Pittsburgh and he's a leader," Benning said. "He has high-end intangibles and we're going to have some young players that are going to make our team over the next few years along with Bo Horvat, so Brandon will be the leader of that younger group."

He also said that he expects to get Sutter extended shortly.

Beiksa had to get himself laughed out of Vancouver before he wanted to mutually move on. I'm feeling that Bieksa wasn't quite ready yet a year ago when Benning was hired.. it was hard to find a person on here who thought Bieksa would ever waive before the contract was up.

I don't have an issue with Sutter over Bonino, I just feel we paid a little too much. I'd be really pissed if we had both of them in the lineup, and Matthias to boot.
