I'm afraid, always thinking Jaws is on his way

I was reading about the open water swimming that used to happen in Lake Ontario back in the 50s-60s and one of the winners talked about being attacked by a Sea Lamprey. There is not much in the lakes up here that can/will have a go at you but damn those things are scary and gnarly looking.

100 bajillion years ago, I had a summer job in the head office of the Royal Canadian Life Saving Society (funny piece of trivia - it was located on Coldwater Road) and every Monday morning, we used to go through the newspapers (this was pre-internet) and cut out all the drowning stories.

Because of this, I'm terrified of the water when kids are in it. People think I'm an effing psycho.

My one rule: one person has to be watching the kids. If "everyone" is watching, it means that no one is watching. One person has to have responsibility. I even put a whistle on a string, and if you are watching the kids, you wear the whistle. You need to go the bathroom? Somebody else has to wear the whistle.

Yes, I'm psycho. But it works.

That summer job sounds a bit morbid....and I thought working at GM for the summer sucked

The Maple Leafs should look at building their team from the "net out". They need a solid veteran and young stud goalie tandem. Maybe keep one of Bernier or Reimer and trade for Mike Smith from Anaheim. ** It is important to draft well when rebuilding, but losing is contagious and harmful to the development of your prospects.

Hey Lucas maybe your next blog should be about the chances Bozak will be better with or without Kessel.

Not sure anyone knows the answer to this.

- stormey

What about.. Will Kessel be better with Crosby or Malkin instead of Bozak

Also an unknown

Great trade. Another steal. Hoffman's coming off TJ . No pitching prospect is a sure thing. Gotta love how these know it all Jays fans think AA is a fool for this. An upgrade is an upgrade. We already had a Catcher before getting Martin. We upgraded that. We upgraded at 3B & now at SS. We have the best 3B in baseball, the best SS, and arguably the best catcher. Why would AA deal one of his top prospects for a rental, when you can get a major upgrade at a meaningful position with term. Reyes was horrible on defense. No need to over react here, because our farm is still stacked. Another trade will come...and it'll be for a SP. Whoever it is, remains to be seen.

Again, great trade for us!

- MCharisma91

We didnt have a great catcher before Martin...hence the Martin deal....Lawrie while good, was often injured and a spaz....hence the Donaldson deal. This deal is an upgrade at SS...but Tolu now has to play on turf, he's already injured often....could have a negative effect.
The farm isnt stacked....it has some pieces....but its no longer stacked.

Weird, I didn't know Smith was a Duck

It's far too late to build from the net out. We are so heavily unbalanced on the front end in terms of our highest-calibre prospects.

This particular rebuild is going to resemble a Pittsburgh style (minus, you know, the 2 top 10 centers in the league) where we have a french canadian goalie who is sometimes good, ONE highly skilled puck-moving defenseman and then a poop ton of offense. Then a bunch of riff-raff filling out the rest.

Maybe next rebuild, we will try from the net out. This one's a write-off

You could just ignore the baseball talk and only comment on the conversations you wish to be a part of. Kind of the point of this thread style.
- BetterCallSaul

I could.

But I feel you all need to know that you shouldn't care about it.

Because it sucks.
