Seems right in line with recent signings. e.g. o'reilly, Stastny, kesler.

Dude, what he was expecting isn't what I questioned. He can expected whatever he wants, saying he's not worth it is what I find funny without explanation. Why is he not worth it?

Based on other players, pretty sure there was a list put out a day ago...that compared player salaries..he fell in the 5-6mil range ...

As a fan, ultimately, you want to see your team win the cup... Based on what these players want/ask for/get salary wise, winning the cup isn't their number 1 priority. Taking a little less, might mean the difference between Hagelin staying/going. Holds true for all of these greedy players.

You can't compare salaries signed in different years...compare him to deals signed in the last year or so and you'll see he falls pretty much right in line.

So he's no better than Brassard?

Brassard 29yrs Old (in Sept): 483 Games 285pts (.59pts. per game) Career -28, Career 10.9 Shooting%, Career Faceoff 47%, doesn't PK, doesn't matchup 2way against top lines defensively. Was mediocre to disappointing throughout his first 8 NHL never breaking 47pts. Had 1st career season over 47pts. last year playing with Nash who scored 42 goals.

Stepan 25yrs Old: 363 Games 252pts (.70pts. per game) Career +85, Career 11.2 Shooting%, Career Faceoff 44%, Top PK Center, Top defensive forward. Broke 50pts. 3 times in 5 years career, averages almost a point per game when playing healthy, still continues to increase production every single season.

I see, Brassard wins 3% more faceoffs at 47%....thats why Stepan isn't even as good as he is. How exactly do some of you people evaluate performance???

So we won cups with Hagelin on our roster? I don't understand your reasoning by saying 1 thing that doesn't consistently support your next comment. How do you know keeping Hagelin at $4M would've made our team better? What if that means we lose Kreider or Hayes next year? What if that means we were forced to play an AHL player on our 4th line instead of Stalberg? You have no clue how these moves turn out until we play. The only thing that does make sense is Stepan at 6.5M is a good cap hit for what he provides the team.

Wow, another impressive Stat I just ran across. Since 2012, Stepan ranks 23rd overall in the league in even strength scoring, 11th from ALL Centers with 2.13pts. per 60min even strength.

take a look at Stepan's comparables, and if you look w/ an objective eye, then you will see that his contract is beneficial for both him and NYR
