Good thing you qualified your statement. Not that you'll stop any Habs, Oilers or Canucks trolls, but at least you did your part to preempt the impending stupidity. - Aetherial
What, no recognition for the contributions of Sens trolls? Those guys need to step up their trolling game.
I haven't read the transcripts of what Hulk Hogan actually said, but it strikes me as completely hypocritical that the WWF (or whatever the frank they are called now) would dump a guy who made them hundreds of millions of dollars, strictly because they unearthed a tape that is 8 years old that has him using racist slurs.
Is this really what we do now?
Am I the only one that finds it bizarre that "we" hold a professional wrestler to standards that we could never uphold?
I haven't used racist slurs in an angry tirade, but I guaran-effing-tee that if you taped everything I said and did for the past decade, you could come up with something embarrassing.
I don't demand perfection from people. I demand that people constantly pursue perfection.
I haven't watched wrestling in about 30 years - I was never really a fan, but I do know what a huge role the Hulkster played in pushing wrestling to the forefront of pop culture, and making the WWF a huge brand.
He should have been allowed to apologize and then we should have all moved on. The WWF should have stood by him. The Hulkster deserves that loyalty from the organization that made a boatload of money from him.
Severing ties because of one tape - that was eight years old?
Is this really the biggest embarrassment the WWF has ever faced?

you guys need to stop pin pointing one specific thing and thinking thats what everything is about.
The leafs liked their management team before Lou with one simple exception.
When it came to contract negotiating and contacts through the league they were very ill equipped and lacked experience.
so, bring in a guy to oversee that growth and teach while managing.
it was a damn good move. - Dozzer
The league wide respect for Lou is almost reason enough.
Will he actually help this mishmash of a team? Who knows for sure...can't be much worse than where they were at seasons end. So why not. Nothing is forever...not even David Clarkson.
as somebody on here said earlier, Lou is brought in to mentor Shanahan (and not Dubas!).
Assistant GM report into Lou, and Lou and Shanahan have a final word on big decisions.
Whether the current structure will work depends on how much autonomy will be left for each of the individuals on their 'focus area' in the group process; balance between autonomy and group decision.
Leafs got the best of the best in all areas of management / team support, now it depends on the personalities whether it will work..

I thought we brought him in to piss off the 12 Devils fans.

Lou has already enquired about the specific whereabouts of the quicksand on the north side of Hwy 401 between Erin Mills and Mavis.
Once it crosses through the vortex that is Leafs Nation the skill, value, quality, etc all plummet instantly. This why the Leafs lose every trade ever, draft only busts and management is a hot mess.

Gutless move. Completely gutless. - Atomic Wedgie
I have never liked or watched wrestling myself But I get the impact he had on the wwf/wwe/whaever-e
I listened to the comments... I think they did the right thing.
Burke was notoriously looking to recreate his 2007 Anaheim Ducks team in Toronto IMO, and failed miserably.
Don't get me wrong, I loved me some Burkie. But I'm not as cynical about the Uncle Lou hiring as some - TheThrill
As horribly wrong as things have gone in that period of time, I can't lie and say I didn't enjoy seeing a Leafs team go out and beat the piss out of teams that one season.

Being the tough guys on the block was pretty fun, I'll admit
