IT'S OFFICIAL: Franson takes hometown discount and resigns with Leafs. 3 years 8 million.
guys just kidding - twiztedmike
8 years for 3 million would be too much. Can you sign a guy for $375,000 per? |

the first year will be tough.
we are going to see some young guys like holland who might not fit babcock's style and approach.
this will be a year of lineup juggling. - Dozzer
I don't understand the reasoning of keeping Dion for a year under Babcock to increase his value.
Pronger wouldn't look good behind this lineup. I think it will be a hard year to be a Leaf D or goalie.
If...that is indeed the reason for keeping him. |

They got good value for him at the deadline last year.
Why not sign him and play him till he drops. The full 2 minutes of every powerplay. Let him get 40 points and hope lightening strikes twice.
Wow...almost a full contradiction of my last post. |

Babcock will love Hollands fly by's. - Woderwick
I stopped watching games almost all together the second half of last season but I thought Holland was doing pretty well down low, cycling the puck and with his board play? |

He's a bit lazy as far as I'm concerned - this with regard to the forecheck and his nearly famous fly by. A stop and start would do wonders for him...but that's hard - I know...I don't like them either. |

i am actually liking the lineup
its a team full of character, not talent. good guys to move at the deadline, good guys to have around the younger guys to teach work ethic too.
but not so talented that it could launch them up the standings so that they arent in a position to draft a core piece next summer. - Dozzer
You know I love you, right?
This team is full of character?
Here's the line-up, and my comments:
JVR-Kadri-PAP: Lazy franker unwilling to pay the price - giant question mark on character - Ask a Habs fan if PA has any character whatsoever
Lupul-Bozak-Matthias: Not exactly a guy associated with the word "trenches" - Last on the ice, first off the ice - Don't know yet, but I think I may like him
Arcobello-Holland-Panik: Don't know, don't care X 2, Panik is a floater
Komarov-Spaling-Winnik: Don't care X 3
Phaneuf-Polak: I like Phaneuf, but I'm assuming you don't, Polak is over-rated in every department by Leafs fans, including character
Rielly-Gardiner: I like Rielly, but if we are relying on the character of a 14 year old, we are in trouble, Gardiner refuses to listen to coaches
Marincin-Robidas: Don't know, don't like him
This is a team with loads of character?

but... but... truculence!!!!
Big defenseman with a nice shot & pass. I'm a fan. I don't think he's significantly better or worse than Phaneuf - twiztedmike
If Phaneuf was a free agent on July 1st, Phaneuf would have signed a new contract on July 1st.
Today is July 27, and Franson is still looking for work.
This is my really gentle way of saying to you that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Did it work? |

If he was willing to take a 1 year deal he would have signed somewhere by now

Long story short:
Burkie gave up way too much to get Bolland.
Ended up losing Bolland for absolutely nothing.
So MLSEL went out and got Holland, hoping no one would notice. |

True. But look at the primary stats.. very comparable.
Advanced statistics actually support Franson more than Dion |
