Departure of Seidenberg next year..........? Seidenberg AND Chara are signed for the next THREE years.

Said it before and I'll say it again. The McQuaid signing makes the least amount of sense out of all the moves this offseason...........

Pretty sure they think that Quaider will be a top 4 and that Krug will prove he is also a top 4.

All this combined with the mindset that CJ is D-first and we are keeping him as our coach.............none of this makes sense unless we are VERY WRONG with what Quaider and Krug are.

Maybe they think Clode Vader is really that good at coaching guys up. Seriously.

Edit: Reread your post and I think I see what you were saying about trading Seidenberg this season and signing a replacement next season by letting Krug walk.

Yeah lol, I thought my post may be slightly confusing, was referring to his departure via trade. Other than that, yeah I agree with everything you said, I am a fan of McQuaid, not at 2.75 mil, but he is a very good #5 or 6.

We needed to replace the bad contract we lose with Kelly gone next season. So this was the obvious choice...........we could still extend Kelly for another 3 years and........let's say........$3.75 million per. With a NTC of course.

It's like these "stay at home" D-men are going the way of the dinosaur in the NHL and we want to lock them up.

EDIT: I feel like the Bs think they are the Pats of the NHL with there thinking. They can coach up anyone they want and everyone is expendable...............ugh.

You guys see the photo from Gillette with the B's and Habs logos on the board? It looks like they're going with this logo... do you guys think we're going to have poopty brown uniforms this year? Or is this just a placeholder for now?

Also here's the image from Gillette stadium:

Resigning Kelly at more than 2.5 million will be the death of me. I think he is valuable under that. Leadership, penalty kill, faceoffs. He is a strong 4th line center. I also think McQuaid's signing, although it doesn't make sense, will be on par with what he is worth for the future. If he stays healthy he is fairly sound defensively, just too slow for playing against top six players. I rather have Quaider at 2.75 than Kelly at 3.75 any day.

I was just being sarcastic about the bottom pairing D-men and bottom 9 forwards we seem to always overpay. All the while not having enough money to sign top line and top pairing players.

Regardless of what everyone thinks Kelly or McQuaid are worth in the last TWO season we have let three key player go for SALARY reasons.

1-Iggy, 30 goal scorer
2-Boychuck, top pairing D-man
3-Hamilton, top pairing D-man

Hamilton was not a cap casualty and I wouldn't want Boychuk with his current contract. Sweeney cleaned up the cap nicely, there's no reason to assume the same mistakes will be made going forward.

If Hamilton wasn't a wiener and just signed the same deal he did in cgy, the B's wouldn't have signed Mcquaid, wed have plenty of cap and a complete team. I'm buying what sweeneys selling right now

Understood. However, This argument can go back and forth. Had we not traded Seguin, there'd be no Iggy. Had Iggy not left while we fed him bonuses, he would have still been here. Had Boychuk not left, we wouldn't have developed Hamilton into a #2 (last season anyways). Had we not traded Thornton, wouldn't have gotten Savard. If Savard still played, Krejci would have left... etc.

I may have gotten carried away, but it is what it is. Next year it will be that if we didn't trade Lucic, we wouldn't have signed Belesky. If we didn't trade Seguin, wouldn't have gotten Smith, and then we wouldn't have Hayes now.

That's fine. But I don't have to like it. And I can disagree with managements direction.

If there was never questioning of management then there would be no point in articles and sport boards like hockeybuzz.

The simplest way to evaluate the "real" performance of a team is with results.

So, if the Bs turn it around, and have a great year, and these guys work out, and we make a Cup run then that is awesome. I'm a fan and I'm going to be watching all these games and hoping they win.

But, if they don't then we have to question there moves............results are what matter. And they are the byproduct of a managements moves.

Hence, we shall see. And I hope your right.

Great article about Franson.

http://blogs.edmontonjour...hasnt-been-signed-up-yet/

EDIT: here one from that wenis Bean about Krug.

http://www.weei.com/sport...-changes-leave-torey-krug

Still don't see how a 5'9" and 181 lbs D-man is going to be a solid shut down guy for a D-first Bs team unless he is playing with Shea Weber or Chara in his "prime."

Corners and in front of the net are lost causes, not because of heart or tenacity, but his size.

He is the same size as Marty St. Louis........
