I think Chicago/Red Wings is a pretty big rivalry

Yes, and they were taken away from us.... now you want the same thing with the Hawks - Blues?

Drouin in St. Louis though? He hasn't exactly proved anything yet, but he has a high ceiling. I'm down if the price is right.

Yea, about that price.

I would think Tampa would be looking for a shutdown defenseman, but Drouin is not currently worth Pietrangelo or Shattenkirk.

Quebec can suck it IMO make them wait for a team in the east to relocate instead of (frank)ing everything up

How could you possibly split up Montreal and Boston? That's the biggest rivalry in hockey! Boston and NY is a big baseball rivalry... not so much in hockey. If there is one rivalry you can't split up, it's Boston/Montreal.

No offense but that idea would make a bigger joke of the NHL. Just relocate Florida out west & put Carolina in Western Conference please...

Shattenkirk I could see that happening. Pietrangelo probably out of the realm of possibility.

So.. it's cute, EK. But I mean realistically I think Gary Bettman would have a stroke just trying to explain this to the owners.

I love it. I especially like the geographical layout of the divisions.

I prefer the format someone here suggested a few blogs back. No conferences or divisions, just 1 32 team league.

Play every other team in the league home and home (62 games). The remaining games are randomly selected, with no more than 1 additional game against any team.

1 v. 16, 2 v. 15 , etc. in the playoffs.

Most fair and best balances travel, eliminating the advantage the NY/NJ teams have when playing each othe many times with no travel involved.

I agree.. the problem geographically is Quebec is just so far up... It's impossible to put them anywhere really without screwing someone else over. It makes some sense to put them in a division with Montreal and Ottawa because there kind of close but Toronto is just as far away as Buffalo to it... If they could just move Detroit of Columbus back to the west none of this would be an issue...

I'm not crazy about this idea because it eliminates towards the end of the season likely playing teams your fighting for playoff spots against. With no conferences you could end up having 10 games against teams ranked 20-30 or Arizona say against Toronto in a game just doesn't have the same ring to it as Toronto vs. Buffalo or Boston
