Eklund, you like that concept because you are a maroon.

you want the Canucks to play every divisional away game in different time zone. get a f*ing clue.

teams should play other teams in their timezone. advertisers want to advertise when people will be watching games, not for fun. local fans aren't going to stay up two hours later or watch two hours earlier than usual in the case of a Canucks vs. Winnipeg game.

you also ignore the fact the Canucks biggest natural rivalry is to the south in california and eventually seattle.

Winnipeg's natural rival is Minnesota where people will go on a roadtrip not vancouver.

i'm not even gonna get into the idiotic moves around the mtl's rivals.

Forcing fake Canadian divisions is stupid.

Pittsburgh, Carolina, Arizona, Winnapeg (doesn't count here), Anaheim, Nashville, New Jersey, St. Louis, Washington, CHICAGO, Islanders....

All teams who a decade ago were behind us in attendance. Throw in two lockouts and poor mgmt and it happens. We're rebounding. All of those teams minus Winnapeg were struggling with poor mgmt and ownership. It took a while, but they drafted and developed great players with healthy mgmt and coaching. Look what happened. No one was calling for any of those teams to relocate.

The BIues were for saIe and had a firesaIe of their good pIayers. UntiI Checketts bought the BIues they were putting out an minor Ieague team with a first IIne nhI squad. I wiII never forgive the Iauries for what they did to the BIues.

Do you need a new keyboard that has a 'L' key on it?

I would like to see 4 teams in 8 divisions...but like this alignment:

Eastern Conference:

Atlantic Division: New Jersey, NY Rangers, NY Islanders, Philadelphia

Northeast Division: Boston, Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa

Southeast Division: Washington, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Florida

Mideast Division: Buffalo, Toronto, Columbus, Pittsburgh

Western Conference:

Central Division: Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville

Northwest Division: Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Minnesota

Southwest Division: Dallas, Colorado, Arizona, Las Vegas

Pacific Division: Los Angeles, San Jose, Anaheim, Vancouver

Here what the schedule would be:

division opponents: 2 teams 5 times each and 1 team 4 times (14 games)(alternating of which team you play 4 or 5 times a season & also alternating extra home game each time the 2 teams play each other 5 times a season)

rest of the opponents in your conference: 3 times each (36 games)(alternating extra home game every season)

non-conference opponents: 2 times each (32 games)

14 + 36 + 32 = 82 games

Playoffs: The top 8 teams in each conference will make the playoffs seeded 1-8 with the division winners seeded 1-4 (this way, only the division winners will have home ice advantage in the first round). The rest of the playoff format will be the same as it was from 1996-2013.
