Also its hard to accept the argument that Zadorov was traded for his attitude problems when we took on Kane with seemingly similar "immaturity issues"

Murray didn't draft Z

If I had to do it all over again

skip college and go right into the military

lock up that pension at 38

Then start my own business, work a part time job 20 hours a week if needed til the business took off

I have high hopes for McCabe as well, but I think Zads is on a whole different level. McCabe at his best is top 4 I think whereas Zads is top 2
- MattFreaknEllis

I don't know that I agree with that
McCabe plays with decent physicality, plus has the steadiness of Keith & the big play knack like Seabrook. Also known to be quite the leader.
That tourney where he led USA to gold & scored twice against Canada are goos examples
Kid is gonna be a heck of a defenseman IMO

Leggy is barely two years away from a 50 point season... He still has some game left in him, IMO.
- jochfr

Maybe
But he was also playing a top6 role
Little chance he gets that kind of opportunity here
He's "ok"
But I wouldn't expect much
He'll likely be on the 3rd/4th line, score around 10goals & be a decent leader for the kids
Then we prob get a 3rd/4th round pick for him at the deadline

One reason I'd like us to sign Franson is BC I think we'll be able to trade him for something decent at some point

He's definitely trying to make his mark
Still would've liked to keep Compher, & trade someone like Karabacek or Cornel instead

According to this...
http://www.prosportstrans...tTrades/Future/Sabres.htm
We have four 3rd round picks next year
I'm guessing we have to give one of them to Pitt for Bylsma though
Wish we still had that other 2nd we gave to the Habs for Georges. Would've been nice if we talked them into one of those 3rds instead

Still though...
Wouldn't be surprised to see Murray move those picks or package them to move up
I'd really like to go to the draft here next year
Sabres fans will represent well & it should be a pretty rowdy & fun time

He didn't draft Risto either, yet he's a core player. Not saying I don't like the trade just that I would have loved to keep Zads

I get ya
Especially since we were already deep at center w Eichel, Reinhart & Girgensons
Also, Larsson looked good at the end of the season, & Grigorenko still had potential
Now we have a clear hole on the left side as far as young defenseman go
(I also didn't like the Fasching trade where we have up McNabb, but I was higher than most on him. Was actually p!ssed that Murray moved him)

I also am a big Oreilly fan though too
Hopefully we can pull something off like NYi did to get a defenseman or two

I loved McNabb's physicality. Yeah that trade did not make much sense from a value perspective, but I think the main purpose of that trade was getting rid of picks where we'd almost have too many of(too many prospects) and turning them into guys who were further along in their development

The problem is that every solution has problems of its own. It's easy to say that people shouldn't get handouts, but a good portion of the reason these programs exist is because the Democrat Politicians who enact them are then guaranteed votes for decades. It's never going to be a perfect system

Imagine the pride that would come from being involved in the trades as a artist in the medium of concrete. To know how to feather the angles of sidewalks for our less fortunate, wheelchair bound brethren. To understand the Purpose of those odd polka dots. To revel in the beauty of a well poured curb.

It would inspire me to poetic lengths.

the greatest fix would be to stop removing the moral value of our children.. It is not the government that is giving CEOs 4000/hr while the little guy gets 8/hr.. it is the individual. If the people in power and everyone had morals and love for each other then maybe they would care more about everyone in their organization. the further our country slides from values (and i don't just mean religious i mean overall value of each other) the worse we are going to slip.

the biggest problem is kids giong to college just to go to college.. you need to have a career goal if you are going not just because that is what my teacher in highschool told me to do

I agree with this. I sort of fall into that category. Went to college with one idea in mind, decided it wasn't for me halfway through my first semester and decided to take the rest of the year off.

Went to ECC for 2 years to try and figure out what I wanted to do. Ended up deciding on being an English teacher. Transferred to Fredonia after I got my Associates and going into my final year at Fredonia I decided that kids are awful these days and wanted nothing to do with teaching. So I have an English degree.

Did I mention I now work at a bank??

I initially went to school for architecture, but that didn't last because they had us doing freehand drawing, and my drawing SUCKS!!! (hence why I was into architecture - it's instrument drawing) Didn't last long, took time off, tried going back for Computer Science, never went to class...

Years later I did some Microsoft certification classes while living in Rochester and luckily have been in the IT field ever since.

With all this stuff going on in NY it may be a good time to get out of here. I'm glad that I've been able to "use" my degree to a point, but nowhere in the realm of what I thought I would. I do work in the Documentation Unit of the bank, so that has to sort of count right?

Major development here in Rochester announced late yesterday with Mega grant in a very high tech field - photonics - that has the potential to be the next Eastman Kodak around here. I'm staying put.

I'm pretty much over the weather here too. I know it's nice now, but the 6+ months of gloomy weather has really started to get to me the last few years.

Cost of living is pretty cheap down this way. Taxes on my house+land every year is about $300 (plus about $350 for 2 cars). In NY that would probably be $2k/year on my house.

Gas is cheap too. hehe
