If I'm gonna be honest, Robert plant's voice irritates me. The music is great, Robert plant's voice though.... - benjichronic
I can understand that. I like Plant's voice in some songs, others not so much. Like you said the music is tremendous. Page is a god, Bonzo was a monster on the skins, and John Paul Jones is a very underrated musician. Great bassist, and amazing on keyboard.

JPJ is one of my all time favorite bass players. Like I said, never was the biggest zep fans, but listening to his bass work was one of the reasons I switched from playing guitar to bass in a band.

Can't have a list without Rush and Pink Floyd
The other 8 would be:
Yes
The Beatles
The Kinks
Alice in Chains
Eric Clapton
Black Sabbath
Steely Dan
Jimi Hendrix

Zeps rhythym section was fantastic, but I'll still go with Peart/Lee or Bruford/Squire

Jack Bruce also another amazing bassist. Cream was way ahead of their time. Shame those guys couldn't get along. Short shelf life less than 3 years.

Pretty much true and not the only 60/70s era band to do so. - BiggE
I don't have a huge problem with it, nothing new under the sun and all that. I just think it's a waste to steal all those songs just to make boring grandpa music out of them.

I love Led Zep and Page is on my top 5 favorite guitarists as one myself. Best word I can use to encompass his music would be "majestic." Lol having typed that it sounds a little lame, but I stand by it 100%. Food for thought: as great as he was on electric, I think he may have been an even better acoustic player. He just made it sing with those chime-like open strings and whatnot.
My only problem with them is song length. Sometimes there's nothing better than a 6, 7, 8 minute song if its earned. All you fellow Zep lovers know those epic length songs that work, but a lot of their stuff can just goes on. And on. I personally like Plant's warbly singing, but I can see how it gets a little old after a while. Still love 'em though.

His guitar work acoustically on Babe Im Gonna Leave You and electically on In My Time of Dying never cease to blow me away

Funnily enough, as much as I like them, I don't find myself listening to them for lengthy stretches of time. I prefer it in short bursts, a bit like one of my other favorites Pink Floyd. I tend to listen to them in very piecemeal fashion.
