It would be a monster powerplay though. The secondary points alone would get franson his big deal.

I'm sure it would

Canadian dollar down below 77 cents today. Wouldn't be shocked if the cap stayed the same or went down.

When the US interest rate is raised later this year it will be 70 or 72 cents.

IMO it doesn't look good if another player turns the Sabres down and for a 1 year deal on top of it.
- SABRES 89

I don't think its that bad as I think player want to see if we will actually get better before committing to play her long term.

Anyone concerned about ROR drinking and driving/fleeing the scene charge today?

I read an article that broke the effects of the Canadian dollar on the cap, it something around 250 to 300k drop per penny. So if the NHL used a rate of 0.82 for their projection and it drops to 0.72, the cap will drop $2.5 to $3M next year assuming revenue stays the same.

Nope, for whatever reason society really doesn't care about this kind of thing unless someone is seriously hurt or dies. If they did, the punishment for drinking and driving would be a hell of a lot more serious than it is.

I agree. But what does this show for his character. O'Rielly needs to be a leader on the sabres next year.

I don't think it says anything about his character other than he made a dumb decision that 24 year olds make all the time. He will learn from this and I'm just thankful all he hit was the doughnut shop.

I would almost bet a large percentage of guys in the NHL have done this exact same thing but haven't been caught.

And back in the day Habs fans were lucky that the 2x4 missed Lafleur's head by an inch or so when he drove drunk into the back of the construction truck. This isn't the first time this has happened and it won't be the last.

My location is QC but I'm not a habs fan. I'm not trying to start anything here I'm just seriously wondering what will happen with O'Rielly after this.

I just used Lafleur as an example as his drinking and driving is pretty widely known, I could have used half the early '80s Oilers as there is more than one good story about those guys. Vernon is another, hell I don't think it would take long to make a pretty long list.

The penalties haven't changed all that much to be honest, cops just don't let you go home after stopping you anymore.

My guess: suspended licence and he pays for the damages. Pretty much the same as anyone else.
