Never said the solution was yet in this organization. it's not. Going to have be via draft or trade. Free agency isn't like when Detroit was buying cups.
If you forced him to stay here for 6 years and he dogs it for 6 years I wonder what your opinions would be then. Will you hold this against Zboril, DeBrusk and Senyshyn like most of the fans hold it against Eriksson? - One_Eyed_Sweede
Shattenkirk for Hamilton.......?
Seabrook for Hamilton........?
Those would have made us level or better mattering on Dougies development.
EDIT: why didn't he want to stay?
That's the million dollar question and THAT'S my greatest gripe with the Bs right now! |

I went absolutely rip-s#!$ when I found out we traded Hamilton. But now hearing he didn't want to be a Bruin because there weren't enough young, unmarried guys on the team? (frank) Dougie. What is this? The NBA? Cry and pout so you can go play with your buddies? (frank) outta here! |

We still need a replacement for HAMILTON on the top pair and BOYCHUCK in the middle pair.
Wether Dougie is a douchebag is a separate issue........I tend to believe, based on a track record, that Julien is a problem with the team.
He is going to blame everything on the young kids and they are going to hate playing for him and it will tear the locker room apart this year.
CJ will be gone by Christmas.
People forget how the locker room was last season.......this will be worse. |

so what should he have gotten? should we have gotten gaudreu? - Fountain-San
You are asking me to give you a specific return which I can't give you an honest answer. But like I have said I believe the return to be quite underwhelming. Sorry but Lucic commanding a higher return than Hamilton doesn't compute.
For comparison sakes, Griffin Reinhart was traded for the #16 and 1 2nd round pick (which also was 12 picks higher than the highest 2nd rounder you got for Hamilton). Now Reinhart comes with a whopping 8 games of NHL experience meaning there is a much higher likelihood that he never pans out. Now compare that to Hamilton's 178 games NHL experience and are you going to say that 170 games difference is only worth 1 additional 2nd round pick?

Again. There is no way to tell he wasn't only what the media says.
At this point he appears to be vastly overpaid. There is potential it could be a bargain. That's Calgary's problem now.
Never used Lucic as a comparison. Different topic entirely. - One_Eyed_Sweede
See my post above regarding the Griffin Reinhart trade and then tell me that teams weren't willing to offer more for Hamilton whereas another young d-man with 8 games NHL experience is only worth 1 additional 2nd round pick
Comparing the return of the Lucic trade vs the Hamilton trade is not a different topic, unless you are saying that Lucic should have commanded more value in a trade in which case I have no words. |

Even if that's the case, (and to be honest I don't think you're too far off) grow a set and take the yelling or punishment, or whatever, like a (frank)ing man. Don't be some prissy little beyotch who thinks he's bigger than the team. You don't think Bergeron has ever been yelled at? You don't think Krejci has ever been yelled at?

Good god man.....I agreed with you at first but now you're just coming across as an antagonizer. Yea, we could've/should've gotten a better package in return. Don Sweeney is not commenting on hockeybuzz, so I don't know exactly what answer you're looking for.

I don't think it is yelling.
My honest opinion:
1-Juliens system is quickly becoming obsolete,
2-he is getting pissed that what he has done for years is not working,
3-he is blaming the players, and mostly the kids,
4-Dougie saw that with keeping Julien, by Sweeney, the team is circling the drain.
And I have said it before.
The Bruins don't realize that they suck yet. |

What he's done for years worked very well up until we had all our injuries last year to key guys. So I can't completely agree with point 1. Point 2 is silly. He gets pissed when guys miss assignments, get pushed off the puck in the corner by much smaller guys, or make stupid passes in their own zone. He's not getting pissed at guys playing solid hockey.
Again, the dougie situation just stinks of NBA player treatment. IE: "I'm the star, I'm making the decisions". I didn't like it when Timmy T took his sabbatical and said f the bruins, so I'm sure as hell not going yo like it when dougie wants to leave because the coach is mean. Give me a break

Okay. Agree to disagree.
I think that his system is turning into what the Devils trap was at the turn of the millennia.
And when we were a dominate team in the NHL we had a team full of VETS and a few rooks scattered in.
We shall see what happens soon enough then I guess.
EDIT: D-men usually don't develop until the mid to late 20's...........FYI. |

I feel a whole lot better about the Ryan Callahan deal after seeing what the Anaheim ducks signed Ryan Kessler too! Let's take a little closer look at that, shall we?
Ryan Kessler is a .597 points per game player and will make $6.875 million a year for six years. That deal doesn't start until he's 32 years old! For the first five years of it he hasn't no movement clause and the last year is a partial no trade clause. By the end of that deal he will be 38 years old!!!!
Ryan Callahan is a .583 point per game player and will make $5.8 million for the next five years. At the end of that deal he will be 35 years old!
While the Ryan Callahan deal is not easy to swallow, I would take it over the Ryan Kessler deal. I know Michael will disagree with me. |

Look, I have no problem with Dougie the PLAYER. No doubt about it, we are going to miss him for years to come. I personally believe he is going to live up to his hype and become exactly what we were hoping for (excluding physical play, I think we all hoped for a bit of a meaner dougie). And I could live with the giveaways every now and then too for that matter. But if Dougie the PERSON can't handle the coach ragging him when he screws up, in what I would assume would be an attempt to better dougie the player, and then won't resign with your team, what then? Cater to him? Treat him differently? Fire the coach for the player? |

If Hamilton is a cancer then you are right.
But, based in his answers to questions when asked about the reasons for wanting to leave.
And, based in the fact that he won an award for being such a "brainiac" while playing junior hockey.......
I wonder if he sees a real "problem" with the direction of the team.....?
This is all speculation anyways. All of it is speculation and hearsay.
So who the hell knows.
What I do know it that we had a good player with upside and now we don't.
As a fan though, is a reoccurring theme here in Boston. |

WE KNOW!! Nobody is disagreeing with you on this. But (frank)ing whining about it over and over and over and over for months doesn't solve it. Let it go man.
Also there was no way in hell trading Hamilton was going to return Shattenkirk or Seabrook. You would need add a lot more. Also, based on the moves both St. Louis and Chicago have made niether one of those 2 appears to even be available. |
