Unfortunately I won't be making it this time. I will have to appreciate the show vicariously through you and other fans . You'll have to post what your thoughts are after the show - I'm sure it will be the usual excellent combination of amazing music and corresponding pyrotechnics. Enjoy!

Shameful part of canuck history that should be buried deep, deep in the back yard right alongside Booner's ex-girlfriends.

I'm more of a shallow grave guy. It makes it easier to dig them up for our romantic anniversaries together.

Or maybe he's telling the truth and it's Linden who's backpeddling?
- bloatedmosquito

That can never be ruled out just because they denied it. Can't argue with that. Doesn't seem to be a lot to support his alleged comment about being untradable... or logic behind it. I don't see anything wrong with giving Linden the benefit of the doubt.

I think Gillis is behind all this.

I don't see why we wouldn't give Linden the benefit of the doubt. He's the most beloved player in franchise history. He's a stand up guy. You can't expect the whole truth from him (wouldn't be much of a poker player if he just showed you his cards), but I don't see him as a liar.

Cuban. If you're not a fan. Ugh. I'm so ashamed. They are a Canadian masterpiece.

Although I know they are a lot like Nickleback. You love them or hate them.

But Rush to me is a lot more loveable.

Check out the documentary "Beyond the lighted stage"

So many of my friends found a new respect for the band after watching this.

Such a good insight into the bands background. And unfortunately some heartbreaking stories in the meanwhile.

Any GM/President of hockey ops who doesn't lie is going mayo struggle. Love how Gillis gets ripped for it yet it's considered a good quality under this overwhelmed management team.

Benning is a poor contract and trade negotiator...when you hear things like "their offer was by far the best" or "it was an easy contract to negotiate" then there's some problems. Asset management has been pathetic so far outside of the Bieksa deal. Even in the Kesler deal it's clear that Benning actually valued Sbisa as an asset which is just sad.

I'm amazed that a GM that hands out NTCs and 5-12 deals is a better negotiator than Benning who's longest contract is 4 yrs with no NTC.

I think tanev got a five year deal.

Miller's got a three year deal with a limited NTC; can submit a list of 5 teams he will accept trade to.

Are you talking Dorsett?

I saw Beyond the Lighted Stage, and I liked it. That filmmaker, Sam Dunn, is terrific. I love his metal documentaries.

But I've never warmed to Rush. One of the problems for me is that all their complex rhythms don't make for very danceable songs. My DJ self has never been able to lean on them very reliably, even at classic rock shows.

I met up recently with an old friend from broadcasting school, who was advocating for Rush back in the 80s when I was into bands like Simple Minds and The Police and early U2. His boys have certainly held their own through all these years.

He has a point though. Let's look at the recent signings and players who are still on the roster from JB's first season:

Miller - poor
Sbisa - poor
Dorsett - poor
Tanev - good
Weber - good
Corrado - meh
Bartkowski - meh

I'm sure I've missed a few but you can see a few questionable moves.

But you're just a fan, your opinion means (frank) all. You will take the product they give you and be happy about it, see how they cheer in Edmonton.

Yes...yes he does, even to the point of blogging on my HB to inform the masses how bad the prospects and management team are.

I used to enjoy his thoughts and posts, but he's really lowered himself to the level of sensnucksnocups, bordering the surreyoiler kid...all because Sbisa got 500,000 to much, oh and Lack is better than Miller who should never have been signed

Just the opinion of one person. No biggy. The trick is to not take any of this too seriously. I can tell most of us are bored already. It's going to be a chippy summer until training camp. Then we'll have something to really talk about.

Miller - Not bad...better than Lack or Markstrom
Sbisa - 1/2 mil to much
Dorsett - most determination on the taem
Tanev - good
Weber - good
Corrado - see how that works out
Bartkowski - meh

100% in agreement with this post...personally it's the continuous complaining that I guess riles me the most.

It was the same with Gillis, Burke, Nonis, etc. just different people complaining about different management styles.

I don't think JB been in the seat long enough to proclaim incompetence, I like him alot better than Gillis, but I liked Gillis for the 1st 2 years also

I would have given Dorsett $6 million and the "C".

Next year, Dorsett with the C, Prust and Horvat with A's

To be honest (and more serious than what's above), I don't mind any of the signings deals etc. I don't care two poops what anyone on the team makes unless it impacts their ability to perform versus the salary cap. And right now, I don't think they should be spending to the cap, but they are, so good on the guy writing the cheques to at least appear like he's trying to win a championship. All of these awful contracts will be over by the time this team is ready to start challenging in the playoffs again. Maybe there will be new awful contracts, but who knows, certainly not Knucker.
