Salary cap will keep rising past what poopty teams that can't stay alive can afford meanwhile salaries of mediocre players are rising too resulting in poopty poor teams unable to stay competitive and owners crying and poop and players wanting to play but not take another salary cut again in so many years blah blah - twiztedmike
stop it. just stop it. |

Never mind the money from expansion in 2 years that doesn't count against revenue.
Strike? Perhaps...I suppose but highly doubt it.

I'm an expert on water. The glass if half full of water. Some would say half full of poop. There is a debate. |

It's irresponsible GMs of affluent teams raising prices on average players and pricing out teams that can't afford it.
Salary cap keeps rising because overall revenues are up, but its not like each teams individual revenue is increased by an equal percent.
Revenue sharing helps but not enough
But anyways - I said it because Holtby was demanding 8 million. This past UFA a lot of players have gone for reasonable prices |

Prices tickets will likely rise (at least in some cities) but that's another topic. Revenues of the league are rising so the salaries rise across the league.
Pretty simple. That's what the owners wanted. Wihout the cap, Toews coud earn 15 or 20 millions a year or whatever. No limit. There is one now, at least. |

Could be a problem with small market teams. But at least there is a salary cap and a revenue sharing system. It would be worst without it. |

I will break this down very clearly for you.
I believed that the salaries being handed out are getting increasingly ridiculous for mediocre players. Holtby demanding 8 million triggered me to muse that a lockout is incoming in 2 years if players like Holtby get 8 million.
Then yall got on my balls and talked about how with revenue sharing a lockout will never happen and asked me to explain how could a lockout possibly happen.
So I described how I think a lockout could happen if the current trend of poopty players getting big money continues despite there being a salary cap, although I note that this past year hasn't been that bad in terms of ridiculous contracts being handed out. |
