There is no way after one scrimmage against a bunch of junior players would TM say McCabe is his guy in opening night.

I never stated such, your implying such.
There is so much more to the process than what you indicate here. So many have input.

I never said anything about cup contention did I ? I said Murray isn't done and he's not.

I cant imagine going into the season with the d looking the way it does. That left side is a tightrope with no net. You have a rhd possibly being asked to slide over, a rookie, and whatever you can get out of gorges- all for 82 games. Id feel a lot better if there was a guy to pencil in for 15-20 minutes a night on that left side. Foligno, larsson, and/or baptiste would have some value. Pysyk and ennis would hurt more. Guess it depends on whats coming back. I think the plan is to move forward with the kids up front playing sheltered minutes, so theres an actual improvement in the standings. That doesnt seem possible without adding a reliable d for the left side.

One guy you never hear mentioned is Jan Hejda. Drafted by the Sabres in 2003 but was traded before he ever played in the Nhl. Averaged 20 minutes a game last year for the Aves, usually playing on the first pairing with Erik Johnson. He just turned 37 years old so it's not ideal, but I think he could be a good signing on a 1 year deal. Can slide up and down the lineup barring injury.

There's no way we can go into the season with this defense, especially with Gorges microfracture surgery last year which has a very low success rate. One injury and we'd be toast.

i'd give up a foligno, cornel, florentino, and the 2016 first

I think they could extend him with ease

I believe so. And if not, it would make more sense to move one of the righties out first.

If You add Seabrook to this team you force Bogosian to either play his weak side or the third pair. In a cap world you absolutely cannot be paying a third pair d-man 5+ mil a year.

I heard risto may move to the weak side, dropping bogo to second pair

I hope they don't do that. he's finally coming along and blossoming into that top pairing guy we all hoped. Moving him to the weak side seems like a waste.

I believe Florentino is going to look like a brilliant pick for years to come and I don't want to trade what I believe will be three lottery chances at a top 3 pick in the 2016 draft.

I know, I know: the chances made this year mean they are and should be going for the playoffs this coming season.

I don't buy that logic. The changes were made to set this team up for years to come, not this season specifically.

I'm at the practice right now. Eichel is so fast. He's flying by people on the 3 on 3s and he has such slick passes. Reinhart is hands down the best prospect here though. Honestly, better than Eichel at this point. Olofsson and Bailey look solid too for forwards.

I'm a big Florentino fan. We don't have the d to think about playoffs.

As far as Reinhart goes, what a difference a year makes. Imagine Eichel in a year.

Honestly eichel looks great too. 2 goals and several assists so far. Verbeek looks good too to be honest. He could be a good player in a few years.
