Eichel will be too at least at certain times this year. I still believe Reinhart would have figured things out during the season had they let him stay, but it's irrelevant at this point.

Incompetent coach that played him with mccormick and deslaurers didn't help either

- homiedclown

had nothing to do with that, homie...

compared to Girgensons, reinhart looked as if his workout centered around the jane fonda program...

he wasn't physically ready to handle the nhl

that was in junior...and mcsavior's skating is far superior to reinhart's...he also skates at 195 and can do everything at a high speed carrying that weight
- Michael Pachla

He outplayed Eichel head to head as well.

I have been saying I expect playoffs this year. Think of last year when we all wanted (or so it seemed) to lose and we would be in tons of games we had no business in. The roster is easily 10X better (maybe more) and I think we will make the playoffs. Maybe not last long in the playoffs, but make it none the less.

Eichel as a 2nd or 3rd pairing would kill most other teams lines. Dude is crazy talented and wants to work hard, same with Reinhart. The beginning of the season might be a hot mess, but that will change, fast.

I see you guys having a very similar season to the Blue Jackets next year. The talent is clearly there, but after some injuries and an adjustment period to lots of new bodies + a new coach, you guys won't finish any higher than 10th.

I foresee you guys trashing a lot of really good teams in the 2nd half of the year once it all starts to come together (if healthy). You're still at least 2 top 4 dmen away from being a true contender, but you guys have made huge strides in the last year.

List me players that have gone first overall forward that went to the AHL or have not played in the NHL the next year it just does not happen in this age
- gerbe75pts

well they cant go to AHL. unless college or european. so the only option is nhl or they would have to go back to OHL.

I know and understand that. I'm saying based on the fact that he got a 9 game cup of coffee alone, he is ahead of Eichel. He knows what to expect.
- mochoson

true dat...

then again, Eichel can adapt real fast as shown by his jump from college to the world championships

I think he deserved more then 1 minute and 6 second on the pp for the 9 games he was up though

why keep him with the big club at all if only to bury him on the 4th line

Reinhart may have been the best player on the ice during that game.

Eichel wasn't even the best player on his own team that game.

can he do it against men on a consistent basis this year and therefore be deserved of a roster spot?

Good looks. I guess when I say they are going to make the playoffs, it will be with at least 1 more D man as I know Murray will get at least one more before the season starts.

I don't know for sure, but I'm sure as hell not going to essentially book his bus ticket to Rochester in July, citing "unreadiness", all the while penciling a guy he thoroughly outplayed, on the NHL roster at the same time.

I agree they have some young talent but the expectation by some people is that they are stars already. OReilly put up 60 but IMO he played with better players than Kane and any RW on Buffalo. Other than that top line I dont see any of the rest contributing much. Ennis and Moulson had poor years last season. They definately will need to bounce back. Gionta is done. The rest of the team is filled with guys who just entered the league and a still a few years away from reaching their potential.

The D is underwhelming Georges and Bogosian are not top pair Dmen. Everyone else like above is either still developing or just 3rd pair quality. On goaltending Lehner played strong in OTT but that was in a backup role and obviously he has had concussion issues. He has only played more than 12 games in a season twice, one OK season and last season he did not do well at all. Chad Johnson did not have a strong season either.

Personally I think Buffalo will struggle for about 2 more seasons before trending up.

new toy factor

this team is built around ROR, Eichel and Reinhart

that will be half of the top 6 for the next decade and it's up to kane and ennis to prove they are in the long term plans the next 2 seasons IMO

- homiedclown

Did we retire reinharts jersey yet?

Ennis had 46 pts on a historically awful team. What part of that is considered a poor year?

And on that note, unless they finish 30th in both years they pretty much have nowhere to go but up..

so i guess you are serious.

I tend to base whether a player should stay on the big team more on their actual play and on ice product versus draft order

He also outplayed McDavid and everybody else in that tournament. Remember, he had better linemates than Eichel too.

the only thing I know is

murray likes kane, ror, reinhart, bogo, eichel, moulson, gionta, lehtner and fasching

everything else, he inherited

Murray extended ennis...so I would assume he is in the long term plans...

I've been saying for months that Reinhart could be the RW we are looking for
Now with the Oreilly trade, it's seems even more logical
And if they like Larsson or Legwand as the #3 center, our top6 could look something like this...

Girgensons-Oreilly-Ennis
Kane-Eichel-Reinhart
(Or switch the guys around however)

Don't get me wrong. I'm not guaranteeing Reinhart a spot on this roster. I'm just not eager to guarantee him a spot down in Rochester on a team like this when he outplayed someone who's guaranteed to be here.

if your name is freakorenko, max or reinhart

you need to play with skilled players because that is the game you play your entire life

not sure why coaches can't see that

bolts are (frank)ing drouin the same way

You clearly just added this word 2 seconds ago. It doesn't even make sense grammatically. It's not a big deal if forwards are what you meant. Lying about it is retarded, but do you pimpin'
