same thing will happen here in 14 months IMO

probably right, homie...and I don't think anyone will have a problem with it...

kane/Eichel/o'reilly as a top-line is a pretty big, fast and talented line

The previous 4 he played center and was a 2nd/3rd player. Congrats on paying almost 8 million a year to an inferior version of Brandon Dubinsky.

Ennis should NOT be in any trade. He was one of the few bright spots past few years...now imagine how he will do with actual talent near him
- Beezer33

darcy drafted and paid him, not murray

for all we know , eichel and reinhart are on the dot for the top 2 lines and ror and girgens are on the wing

that makes ennis a trade asset for a top 4 d man

wasn't commenting on how he played, just pointing out the fact that he is a center and contrary to what you originally posted he's not playing out of position as a center

Murray expects Reinhart to be here. From his mouth to everyone's ears. Samson will be here.
- ImThatGuy

What I am curious about is what if mid way thrgh the year we see Eichel deserving top line minutes...Now do you move ROR to wing and let Reinhart play center or keep him at wing for his whole career?

Don't you have something better to do? You can join the other dozen of Jacket fans in your own forum and worry about overpaying for a winger that actually plays for your team.

yup, which leaves the question who flanks reinhart on the wings fro the second line when it all shakes out

once kane is extended, ennis will be gone, if not before

top 4 d will be the pressing need to figure out in the next 14 months

Didnt Murray sign Ennis to a two year deal not Darcy? Also Larsson and Foligno are WAY higher to put together for a d man. We have too many forwards and since they are young and cheap it should bring a nice return. If you put those two and a 2nd I really think wed land a decent player

imo reinhart has not proven he can hang with the big boys yet...and it may take some seasoning in Rochester...ennis has proven that he can hang and succeed even on a last place team that challenged the modern mark for goal-scoring futility two years running

Except when better centers emerged in Colorado. His point totals jumped when he moved to the wing. So is he an under producing center or a good winger?

I would think Reinhart starts in minors and you bring him up when ROR moves to wing and Eichel is top center. that way everyone had their seasoning and Sabres are ready to step to playoffs

A. Murray did not Draft him

B. Is he a top 6 player on a cup competing team

C. Is he a piece to get one of those players Murray wants (top 4 d man)

the new gm isn't a hoarder, if it's not in his plans, they are going to be gone

- homiedclown

I don't think whether he drafted him or not is as much of a factor as people think, if that were the case he wouldn't be GM for long. It's based on his on-ice performance and that's why Ennis wasn't traded for picks last year which would've been the time to do it.

I actually do think he is a top 6 on a good team. If he can consistently put up 20G/+40Pts on a team as bad as the last few Sabres seasons, then with quality centers it is definitely within reason to think he can hit 30G/+60Pts.

that's my conundrum...I don't see him on the second line unless you move him to wing...then, who would he replace, Moulson, Girgensons or ennis?

Its very simple. Him or Girgs plays the 2nd line RW spot. Zemgus is ready for it but Sam might start out in the AHL for all we know.

Assuming we trade Foligno and Larsson for a top 4 Left handed d man lines look like...

Kane-ROR-Ennis
Moulson-Eichel-Reinhart
McGinn-Girgensons-Gionta
Deslauries-Legwand-McCormick

Bogo-Risto
Shattenkirk?-Gorges
Pysyk-Weber
Carlo

Lehner
Johnson

- Beezer33

I don't see Reinhart in the top 6 to start the season. I would think Girgs will be the 2nd line RW, Reinhart to center the 3rd line between vets McGinn and Gionta. The 4th line gets a bit dicey dependent upon who they trade this summer. My fear is that Deslauriers might be the one traded for D help.

Thank you!!! Just because he went 2nd overall doesn't mean he doesn't need a little more AHL action!

he's a young, two-way veteran forward who has the opportunity to live up to his own expectations which is that of a top-line player...from what he's been saying, he welcomes the opportunity...

we won't know the answer to that question for a couple of years...do I think he can match his career totals as a center?...sure as long as he can develop chemistry with his linemates

Really ? are people really this crazy please give me a list of players the last 10 years they have played in AHL as the first overall pick forward?
- gerbe75pts

So you want to base whether he is ready to play in the NHL based on the round he was picked in?........am i misunderstanding you?

Extremely Ironic coming from a Sabres fan. The team's best talent has to leave in order to win a cup. And secondly, I know while in tank mode to Freaken&Eichel, you might have missed a brief but exciting playoff appearance by the jackets.

And another playoff failure by your beloved Rangers.

Still dont understand why they took him on even for Horton...Horton is moveable (Savard, Pronger, etc...) but NO ONE else will ever want Clarkson for his current salary...
