I see him ending up like Zetterberg
- gerbe75pts

You're way to young for the Oates reference.

Zetterberg had 4 straight 30+ goal seasons (one being a 40)

I don't see Sam as scoring that much.

you were not one that piled on me

I agree he is not going to be as good as JT

different players

- homiedclown

I think he will be every bit as good, just in a different role. Sam is going to help this team go. Reinhart has unlimited potential, IMO. He has the vision and the smarts to play the game better than most in his sleep. The physical stuff will come.

Or maybe you're too old

The thing is, the game is played much differently now then when oates was around. Speed is basically everything, and as hard as Reinhart has worked to improve his, it will still wind up being just that half step too slow to really be in that elite company that puts up 50+assists per year.

Because he isn't a goal scorer.

He's an Adam Oates type of guy (18-22g and 50-60a).

Tavares was known as a goal scorer coming out of Jr's (215 goals in 247 games)

Reinhart wasn't (118 goals in 246 games)

You've been enlightened

I guess so!

Side note: I kept my eye on Cattenacci (sp?) that first practice... He is a joke and his attitude still sucks, looked lost out there more than anyone. One of the coaches was trying to teach him and he just skated away.
That dildo will never reach the NHL, IMO.

He looked good today
He's always been a very good skater though
He had a nice year for Rochester last season
This is a big year for him

ON Reinhart leading up to the draft:

Sam's offensive instincts are off the charts, as he's an elite playmaker with pretty good hands. He's a great offensive thinker with great skills and a natural nose for scoring goals. He's a very smart playmaker who can really control his time and space well around the puck. He's got a great release on his shot, a release that reminds me a lot of James Neal. He has a natural ability to adapt to his surroundings and seems to build chemistry quickly with whomever he lines up with. He's a quality individual with good character and leadership qualities as well, so not only is the skill there but he brings some very valuable intangibles.

Oates played in the non clutch era.

Oates got Selke votes in 7 seasons, Byng votes in 16 years, and Hart votes in 3.

I see Reinhart having a very similar career when you adjust the points from non clutch era to today's game.

He has the 1000 point career ability.

Actually it is a fact that Tavares was known as an Elite goal scorer coming out of Jr's

Reinhart was known as an Elite playmaker.

Also fact Tavares was at an almost a goal per game clip (.87)whereas Reinhart was under a .5 goals per game.

If the hawks are even thinking about trading Seabrook, per Bob Stauffer, should the sabres make an offer and if so how much?

Yep.

Depending on health I could almost see this team in the top 10. They need a ppqb.

Yes and I'd offer the 2016 1st.

You put him back there and you are in the convo for top 6 in the East IMO.

my guess as of now

Kane, ROR, Reinhart
Moulson, Eichel, Ennis
McGinn/Foligno, Legwand, Girgens
McGinn/Foligno, Larsson, Gionta

this puts Reinhart on the wing with 2 vets and Eichel on the second line with 2 vets

- homiedclown

I think one of Reinhart or Girgensons will be on the wing, but not both.

I'll counter with

Kane ROR Moulson
Girgs Eichel Ennis
McGinn Reinhart Gionta
Foligno Larsson/Legwand DLO

I can't see Chicago trading Seabrook,
But even if they did they'd want a defenseman back
So we'd be looking at Pysyk ++

StL is thin on defense as well, and stacked at forward

I don't see either team as a good trading partner for us
Burns I'm not so sure about
But the Dharks moved him back to defense last year,
Do I'm guessing they'd need defense back as well
