Just got some info usually I keep it to myself cause my guy has been wrong in the past but it's worth mentioning. Sabres have a deal on the table it involves one of two prospects plus a roster player. Murray has to decide which prospect he wants to keep and wanted one more look at them to decide.

My guy isn't sure what two prospects are being talked about but I think it's between Bailey and Baptiste. The player going the other way is most likey Larsson. Not sure who the deal is with or what player is coming back but it's a package for a roster player.

Shouldn't do it for anything less than a really good, young top 4 LHD. That's a lot of value to give up.

Better be for a top pair LHD.

that's what I'm saying it better be in the elite defenseman category

The Avs wanted Risto and Bailey in the ROR deal and Murray said no.
- SABRES 89

Gotcha. Like stripes said, maybe Murray is making an honest evaluation this week between a few of them to decide on. IMO we need to keep at least 2 of Bailey, Fasching, Baptiste and Rodrigues.

You won't get that for Larsson and a prospect.

Bailey/Baptiste has always been an interesting comparison (as in who ends up being better). When you watch them play Baptiste seems to stand out more. That size and speed is pretty easy to notice and then there's the scoring touch.

But everything i've read and listened to from people who do this for a living seem to think that long term bailey will have a more successful NHL career.

Buffalo fan overvaluing his team's prospects, perhaps, but unless it's a helluva defenseman coming back, I'd rather just keep those two.

My buddy seems to think Murray is looking at Jay Bo.

He makes sense, just wish he was a little younger.

You're not trading Larsson and a prospect for Shattenkirk, come on.
- mhp

No not at all. I suppose my post was worded horribly haha. My point was I like both prospects in question a lot, but if they were moved for a legit roster player like Shattenkirk I'd be fine losing one of them.

Then don't make the trade. There is no reason to rush a trade to make the playoffs. If the defense isn't good enough next year then so be it.

I just have this feeling he's looking at either Cowen or Wiercoch in Ottawa. Just a hunch.

If no trade is made and both are still Sabres property we still for have any top winger prospects. At best those two turn out to be second line scorers. They were drafted in the 3rd round for a reason. They are not top line can't miss prospects. I'm not saying they can't be good but they are not neary as valuable as you seem to think they are.

Everyone I've talked to thinks Bailey will be the better of the two anyway.

I don't trade either of those two lightly.

And certainly not for a soon to be 32 year old D man with a LOT of miles on him.

Other teams would beat us out on trade offers for Shattenkirk, J-Bo is another story. Can't keep trading the farm away, Foligno and a pick or a B level prospect can get J Bo or bring in Del Zotto or a guy like him.

Agree 100% Punch. Who knows, maybe McCabe is ready and he'll fill a D slot.

The Avs wanted Risto, Gringo, Bailey and 2 picks for ROR, Murray wasn't having it.

He's a phenomenal skater and has been quite durable.

If we paid Oduya that term and dollars I doubt people would complain
