Cal Petersen the next Ryan Miller?

Both 5th rd. draft picks. Both excelled in the NCAA.

He was one prospect I wanted to keep. Apparently Darcy liked him more than trading up to get monahan that year. Got the extra 2nd instead of trading up.
- Fattony1187

I think they were really focused on Ristolainen that year, that's why they stayed where they were

Ennis? I dunno never say never, but the guy has a shot of being an NHL player thats all
- DDM-Coga

ennis has plenty of skill...has chutzpah too...compher will be perfect in a third-line role...plenty of character and leadership qualities, enough skill to consistently contribute...y'all got a good player there

irony, when the sabres traded sekera, he was suppose to be the best player in the trade

I'll take proven nhl'er over any prospect not taken in the top 15

- homiedclown

they said at the time that they were ready to use #38 and #52 to move up to draft compher...the trade allowed them to keep those two (connor hurley and Justin bailey) while still getting compher...

plus...

jimmeny Christmas, how could you leave out Jamie mcbain?

Enroth gets a shut out vs the flames

Lindy decides to let Enroth go up against the Sens the next night

Miller pouts

that sums up my feeling on Miller being a team guy

That's jumping the gun a bit
Peterson had a very mediocre 1st half of the season last year
Let's see how his next couple years go
Needs to accomplish quite a bit more...
Incl a Nat'l Championship & Hobey Baker Award
(*Miller was the 2nd goalie to win the award if I remember right)

Point is... Peterson has a ways to go to even be in that convo

I'm still a miller fan. He just put a lot of pressure on himself to be THE guy. I think that was his downfall.

Also, that gold medal game OT goal he gave up to Crosby had to be devastating. I cried for him that day.

Notre Dame now is a joke compared to what Mich. State was at the time. Yea, it's a little early to make the comparison but I like hypotheticals.

all he has to do is win 1 game 7 to be ahead of Miller

"Flyers goaltending woes? What woes! Let the numbers speak!

Boucher – SV% .934 , GAA 2.10 , Wins 4
Miller – SV% 9.17 , GAA 2.93 , Wins 3

He’s a good goalie but it was another SILVER medal performance for Ryan Miller in round one."

It's for a couple of reasons:

1. We were all spoiled by Hasek, and, fair or not, he's going to be the standard every goaltender here is going to be measured by, be it consciously or subconsciously. Miller, and everyone else, comes up short of that.

2. He was essentially the guy this team chose to build around. It may or may not have been his fault, but the reality is, this team was built around him, especially after 2007, and this team underachieved more often than not. He's always going to be looked at that way by most.
