Think he might let her go for the draft picks?

I'm think he'd agree to anything for a new flat screen and a case of Moosehead. But, as we all know, it's not really up to him to decide.

Good to see Tank locked up for all his prime years.

He could be legitimate threat for the Richard and Art Ross over the next few years as he hasn't even hit his peak yet.

This deal is already good and will look like a steal until perhaps the last 2 or so years when he starts the inevitable decline all players eventually go through.

I have to say I haven't been happy with some of the bonehead moves Armstrong has pulled the past couple years but avoiding a bridge contract here was genius. If Tank was bridged and had another season like the last one they would have to pay through the nose to get him long term.

Keep the offer sheets - increase the compensation to make it worthwhile for a team to let a star player walk if his demands are ridiculous... if a team is willing to pay a ridiculous salary, they should have to give up more to get him.

Just imagine if McDavid or Crosby had an expiring contract. That's where you would see some serious offer sheets out there. No point losing 4 first over a Dougie Hamilton or a Brandon Saad but no problem losing them over a franchise guy.

Problem is those guys never become an RFA for enough time to get offer sheeted

Did ROR get Tarasenko money or did Tarasenko just land ROR money?

Yeah cause small market teams in baseball never make the playoffs. Like last year, the Royals, A's, San Fransico and Pittsburgh. HUGE markets.
- tomburton99

In what world do you live in that the Bay Area isn't a huge market?

And while the lack of a cap in baseball doesn't prohibit teams like the Pirates from making the playoffs, it makes it much harder for them to plug holes in their lineup, and also to retain guys like McCutchen in the long run.

Perhaps baseball just needs to add a point structure offering loser points if you lose in extra innings. Seems to help create parity in at least one league.

Worth the risk, on the Tarasenko deal. If they'd bridged him and he kept it up they'd be looking down the barrel of a 10+ cap hit.

Shea Weber happened, but it was an extremely unique situation. Just before the Shea Weber offer sheet I was told the Flyers and Rangers were negotiating with the Predators a trade for Shea Weber. When the Flyers realized the Rangers might get him they put an offer sheet together which assured Weber would either be a Flyer or a Predator for life. The Preds of coarse matched the deal and the rest is history...

I would. Get some younger talent that you can teach to play the game implementing your own system.

I will be updating the players remaining on the Rumor Chart this evening as talk is picking up again on those remaining players and possible trades this summer.

Yeah, it is insane to sign someone until they are 31......

And they don't allow 10 year contracts anymore.

I think the point they were trying to make is, why would anyone want to lock themselves into 8 more years of first round knock outs?

That's a long stretch.

That would be a long stretch.

Even longer than the current 7 year stretch the Avs have gone without going past the first round. To be fair though, they have qualified for the playoffs fewer times than the Blues in the that time span. Can't really blame a team for not advancing in the playoffs if they aren't in them.

Since a team has to give up its own picks in the compensation, this isn't possible.
- InSutterWeTrust

Why not? They are not offer sheet eligible for three years, the Vegas team will exist next year. Therefore they have two years of draft experience and the correct picks.
