I am not saying it is his responsiblity. I am saying that if I was Patrick Sharp (wow wouldnt that be awesome?!?), I would want this saga to be over as quickly as possible. And vetoing trades to a supposed "great landing spot for ex-Hawks" is not how this drama ends quickly...
- EnzoD

If I were am NHL hockey player Florida would not be a "great landing spot". At his age I'm sure Sharp wants to do more than accept a paycheque, I'm sure he still wants to play on a contending team that still has a chance to win it all. You're barking up the wrong tree here, neither side, Sharp or the hawks, is, or should be concerned about anything but their own situation.

He's not vetoing the trade he is actually working with the Hawks. If you want him to waive I don't think it's out of bounds to ask for something in return for waiving to go somewhere not on his list of acceptable teams. I view this whole thing as Sharp being a good guy and helping the Hawks out.

If I'm understanding this correctly, FLA has to have one of their own rostered players approve said-trade because he has a NTC.

The Panthers with NTC's are:

Bolland - Nope.
Jokinen - Double-nope.
Campbell - Way too expensive - nope.
Mitchell - Possibly, but hefty hit for a 38-year-old. Nope.
Bobby Lu - Hmmm ....

but a player condition to waive NTC yet to be approved by FLA

Another newspaper writer that cannot express a thought clearly in writing. "Player condition to waive NTC"... "yet to be approved by FL".

I don't see that as a player with an NTC coming back. Just a reiteration of what JJ has reported here already - SHarp has a condition to wiave his NTC that FL ownership needs to agree to. Wouldn't be surprised if the guy is picking up on JJs rumor.

Crow for Lu. You get a veteran goalie who will split time or transition to a backup role in order to mentor Darling.

The whole angle about Luongo being a Hawks villain is very overdone and outdated. If his money makes sense, I say do it.

What about Soupy if Tallon is willing to eat 30 to 50% of that cap hit? That could make sense.
- EKolb13

I would think Sharp wants to play with his buddy Soupy instead of being dealt for each other.

If Tallon eats $3M, that's Soupy for one year at $4.1M, which is Hammer's salary and equivalent to what I originally thought Oduya might get.

In some ways, this could satisfy a lot of fans and posters here. Some have brought up the idea that signing Oduya beyond a 2-year deal would be a mistake. But that would only take him to age 35… So I can't see Oduya taking less than a 3-4 year deal with (gasp) a NTC/NMC.

If we get Soupy for a year, he would be a good #4 and perhaps even take a huge discount to stay as a better Roszival in the following years. TVR, Johns, and Pokka get another year to develop and see if one can be a true #4. Would think Johns might be the best shot but it's a stretch…

Hmmm… I actually think this would be the best deal. Of course, you'd sorta be screwing Oduya who has been loyal for the last week...

You're probably right, but just looking at the list of players with NTC's, none of them (aside for Campbell) even make remote sense. Campbell at least is still likely capable of top-4 minutes, but his contract hit is way too high. Unless Tallon eats at least half of it, and takes back Bickell it might not be feasible.

Bobby Lu may not be someone you want to see in an Indian head, especially after all these years, but he's nearly $1.5 mil cheaper than Crow and provides stability as a #1. I think he might be the player that FLA has to get the approval of in any deal because he's talked about how he wants to end in Florida.

that would save about 700k on the salary cap, not to mention Luongo is signed till 2020. 5.3 million for a back up goalie, ya i don't think stan will be making that trade.

My guess is that Sharp wants some assurances that either (1) he won't be asked to waive his NTC once he relocates his family down there, or (2) just the opposite, that he gets traded at the TDL if Florida is not going to be in the playoffs. I can't think of what else it could be and neither of those things seem like something Florida ownership should have a problem with.

I can also understand Florida ownership balking at any big$ move Dale wants to make after the Bolland contract,

Sharp was the first jersey I bought during the 19/88 era so just noting I am a big fan of #10. He was a great Blackhawk and key contributor for the past decade. The media circus around his "immanent" departure simply does not look good for Sharp or the Hawks. That is especially true given JJ's report this morning.

What have JJ 'exicoHawk and others been saying about cost certainty? This is another move along those lines. Great time to resign TVR - before (hopefully a big upswing and) a full season. I like this move a lot (especially given the cap friendly $$)

I don't think there is a Florida player that has to waive anything. If the report is correct it's probably that the Florida management has to approve what Sharp wants before he waives his NTC.

JJ just tweeted he talked to David and said his source is completely independent from JJ's source so sounds like there is talk from both sides here.

RE: Sharp to FL

Just got independent confirmation from a guy who works at the CBS affiliate in Miami. He heard almost the same rumor from a source down there, close to the team and has had good info in the pas—he also says it could still be alive as a possible deal
