He has to want to leave...Seabrook has a no trade clause.
- Al

Just a small point of clarification Seabrook has a limited NTC, Crawford has a modified NTC.

Both require a list or permission pretty much the same.

Most players know when their time is up with their current team. The NMC/NTC just prevents a rash trade like when Punch Imlach dumped Lanny MacDonald to Colorado or how Espo got traded.

They really seldom stop a player from being traded unless it is at the deadline in his final year.

Why would RFA "need" an attractive bridge deal if they haven't proven anything?
Which again brings us to bottom 6 players that can be launched and replaced with other players on an ELC. Did you consider that is why guys are being kept in the A. To make their next contract cheap?

Either way. A proven top pairing D-man is much harder to replace than a bottom 6 role player. They are a dine a dozen.

They aren't going to compete for a Cup indefinitely. Guys like Toews, Kane, Keith, Hjalmarsson and yes, Seabrook don't grow on trees. This will most likely be the greatest group of home grown talent the Hawks will ever see. Ride it to the end.

- TTtime

What are you even saying? Obviously if a RFA hasn't shown anything he'll just become a FA...but the Hawks feature a number of RFA type players that are headed towards being core players...they will need to be bridged...this is the plan!

A lot of water will flow under the bridge in the 2 seasons before TT and Dano are RFA's.

First time in at least 25 years I bought a six pack of Old Style bottles over the weekend. I was in the liquor store and instead of Amstel or Negra Modelo I bought the Old Style and it brought back some memories. I won't gag on Old Style or Old Milwaukee for that matter but I never liked Schlitz.
- Al

Ah yes good old times with no responsibility and no money, I remember when I could get the 30 pack of Schlitz cans for les than$8. If you got through the first 2 cans you were golden the rest of the night

They might have to go with a 21 man roster. RockVegas is 90 miles away. Any injury would become a LTIR type in order to make space. Not ideal but doable.

Still back reading here but I was hoping that some young guys auditioning could give the core a little rest here and there.....and very nice post Al on page Al draws the line.

The problem comes in with the term with a RFA like Saad who some think can be the cornerstone of a team...A centerpiece, build around player. Discussed here with John the likely hangup with Saad's deal was term to start...

The term was the issue becasue for the Hawks to go long term they needed no competition..5/6 yrs $4-$4.5 mill...and Saad wasn't going to take a bridge deal because he got both a huge payday and security with a 6 year deal. KIM-Saad's agent knew what was out there, even if as Saad contends he wasn't fully in the loop.

IceHogs just signed Mark Visentin. Could be another nice goalie "value buy" - he missed all of last year with an injury, is only 22 years old. 2011 WJC Gold Medal Game implosion aside, he does have legit prospect pedigree. Should be interesting to track.
- BreakoutHockey

Interesting. I guess he is worth a shot to see what he can do. Guy has a serious history of buckling under pressure. But hey, why not.

Wouldn't "brought up" some memories be more appropriate?

I thought Visentin's "history" of buckling under pressure was one single game...

...or was it one single period, against the Russians in the 2011 WJC final.

Thought the same. My guess is that he's likely a better bet than Nillson or now-departed G draftees

Always choked in any important game going back to pee-wee. I've seen many. But like I said. Can't hurt to see what he can do.

It all comes down to lists...

...some number of clubs a player will, or will not, accept an unconditional trade to.

My first job out of college was in the Hamptons. As a green card carrying Canadian I very much loved the $6 30 packs but the checker cab guy down the road was a Rolling Rock guy.Funny.......30 years later you can buy that poop in Canada.

That doesn't matter...what matter is that the Hawks CANNOT afford another contract over $6.5 million with the deals that Toews and Kane got...this is the consequence for holding on to them "forever"! If Seabs doesn't want a nice long term deal for $6.5 million a season to remain in Chicago, then he has to be traded or next year it will mean dealing Crawford AND...
- MexicoHawk

You just said north of $7.5 mil about five posts earlier. Which is it, $6.5 or $7.5?

So you think they said goodbye to Saad with no intention on keeping Seabrook if he asks for a $1.6 mil raise?

I doubt that.
