We have to remember Kruger and his agent didn't go the arbitration route assumedly because they thought the Blackhawks could clear cap space. If that appears to not be the case or they get tired of waiting, he could get the word out they're looking and he have sheets before you know it.

IF the Sharp veto rumors are true then StanBo will certainly have to exhaust all possible Crawford trade options. Personally, I hope Stan is working on a time crunch right now to keep Oduya and Kruger in the fold. That would mean a trade in the very near future

Why would you give up trading Sharp after a single failed attempt if he is the piece you want to move?

You'd have $7M to work with but you'd lose every bit of little leverage you had. If you are $7M over the cap then you are going to screwed in every which way possible. That's why, even if you can go over the cap, you aren't seeing Kruger for example get signed. He could conceivably be signed today for 2M (as an example) and it would be within the rules. But now the Hawks must shed salary and everyone would know that.

Technically speaking you could build a compliant roster today that's under the cap. The minute that situation changes you are in trouble.

That's why Sharp is the key. Assuming Kruger/Oduya fit in the space voided by Sharp you can build a compliant roster (a non-ideal one but a compliant one). Buys you time to find new homes for Bickell/Versteeg.

Make no mistake I think Bickell and/or Versteeg get traded but there appears to be a very soft market for the two at the moment.

I agree there would be no leverage. Perhaps it's cynical to say so, but I think there should be the minimum salary dumps made to get Kruger and Oduya before they walk (or do whatever given their respective UFA/RFA statuses). And, if that means all three are salary dumps, it sucks, but it's what you have to do to ice a team with a chance at a repeat next year.

Wake up poster who think the departures are not Sharp & Bickell ..they are. So now can you please sit patient while they finesse the depatrures and work on the fattest return? 27 & 16 are willing, can't you

Kruger is a Blackhawk next season unless he receives an offer sheet.

Not just "receives an offer sheet" - he would also have to sign it, i.e. want to go to the other team.

Sharp will still probably be moved. I was saying that as an insurance policy, StanBo may need to re-engage in Corey Crawford+ trade options. Florida was always thought to be the final landing spot for Sharp (at least I thought as much) and he (reportedly) vetoed a trade there. Things just got a whole lot tougher for Stan...and things were difficult before...

For the millionth time, offer sheets are negotiated, they're not just a piece of paper somebody sends to you randomly. Why would you negotiate a contract and then not sign it?

Got it, agreed. I think Crawford is the contingency plan. I think he's the contingency for 2 possible situations. First if Sharp+ can't be moved for whatever reason and second if they move Sharp+ and have to take too much salary back in the process.

Your guess is as good as anyones at this point...ANDDD now we wait....JJ or others, any insight into the Hawk's plans for Tikhonov. I have to believe he wouldnt of come over if not guaranteed an NHL roster spot. I know he plays both C & W, but what is his best position?

I understand that - the point I was making was that Kruger would have to want to go to the other team and sign the offer sheet, so if he wants to stay with the Hawks than an offer sheet is not a threat to the Hawks.

and I believe it costs the team proposing the offer sheet money to do so......so you better be damn sure the guy will sign it IF you propose one.

I used the word "believe". I believe somebody posted a link backing up that monetary claim in a previous thread when rumors of saad offer sheets were lurking.

I don't have the link.
