The same thing could be said about any Sharp trade too. No one move will clear all the space required.
- Sandus

Could not agree more. That is why I think the real issue here is who else can they move. Even if it is for very little return I think crow and sharp are both moveable. I think they are waiting for a home for bickell. If bickell can't be traded then it almost has to be sharp and crawford especially with Seabrook needing a new deal after next year. Still think a Bickell buyout would have made sense if nobody wants him. Is there another salary that could be moved to free up space. Any of the 2 mil guys don't really save you much once you replace the roster spot.

Why is the window so small? Are Kane and Toews over 30? Teravainen is a bust? Hjalmarsson's play is going to drop off because he takes too much damage blocking shots? Trading ageing players (no matter how beloved) for high upside younger players is how you keep the window open longer anyway.
- Sandus

I believe the "small window" being refereed to is the idea that Oduya and Kruger are waiting for Bowman to move some cap room so they can re-sign, but are not willing to wait forever.

At least that's the idea that I've seen here over the last few days.

It's really hardly to fathom someone traded for Chris Pronger and we can't get Bickell moved for a bag of pucks + cap relief. Although there may be some funky accounting trick to trading for those guys on LTIR that makes it better than moving for Bickell.

I'm there with you man. But this guy is a Top Pair NHL dman and he is 20 years old. I woudlnt want to give up Seabrook for him but dang, he is gunna be a good one
- EnzoD

He's played a total of 2 NHL games, Nurse isn't a top pair dman in the NHL and he may or may never be. I think he has a great future but I also thought Cam Barker did before he actually stepped on NHL ice. Each step from Junior to the AHL to the NHL are huge and many can't miss prospects do in fact miss. Let's not write up Nurse's HOF ticket for a few more years.

This is what makes me nervous. Kruger and Oduya could potentially split if this drags on. But there must be agreed on terms if they haven't gone to arbitration.

I hope some movement happens soon. I don't want to wait until October for some trades to happen.
- Hank3Henshaw

No way! This is fun in here and more it takes more funnier this goes.

And finally it is going to go like this; everyone is waiting for trades and blaming whoever not any trades to happen and when the trade or trades happen there will be punch of unhappy people because they don´t like those trades..and the blaming continues.

Rumours are rumours and I do not believe anyone in here knows what is really going on. Just like that Saad trade.

I have loved his game EVERY time I watched him. Big, mean, fast and underrated offensive skill. IF the situation were to present itself, I would take a Seabrook+ for Nurse+ trade if it was the only Salary Cap compliant option....
- EnzoD

Give me Nurse, Draisaitl, & Klefbom for Seabrook +. Wouldn't think twice about it.

If by not being willing to lower his price to move Sharp (and probably having the Sharp deal done at the draft) the Hawks are forced to trade Seabrook (not to mention losing Kruger and Oduya), Stan should be fired on the spot.

Yes it is an accounting trick. Numbers may not be exact but they only have to pay him around 550,000 but they get a cap hit of around 5 mil to help them get to the floor. They are a team that wants to spend as little as possible but they must spend to the floor

Kruger is the one who is arbitration eligible. Oduya is not. Good point.

I think Pronger's actual salary now is something like $1M but Arizona gets the cap hit to move them up over the minimum.

Would think Stanley learned his lesson after the Leddy fiasco.

If he somehow pulls this off with the 'Hawks putting together a strong roster, he should get an ovation. But if we end up with the Rockford Shuffle and a '10-'11 like team, one would have to wonder how PO'd McD will be.

- blackhawk24

Relax! Things have a way of working themselves out as they always do.

As for the 'Leddy fiasco' we don't know if there was a fiasco and if moving Sharp is in fact a similar situation. At the end of the day everything will be fine, the Hawks will be cap compliant with a strong roster and a better chance of repeating than they had in 2011 and 2014.

Kruger didn't file for arbitration because he wants a long term deal. If he had filed for arbitration, the longest deal he could have gotten would have been 2 years. Kruger not filing for arbitration doesn't mean there is a deal in place already, although it doesn't mean there isn't.

Because Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabrook, Nik are the essential core to this teams success and when father time comes calling it'll suck but this happens to all great teams you bring Nurse in and how long did it take Keith, Seabrook to become great defenseman a while as I recall, so you lose 3 to 5 years if you trade for Nurse who has played 2 NHL games. In 5 years how old will JT and PK be in their 30's.

Nobody is saying he is a HOF player and nobody is saying that he can hold Seabrook's jockstrap at this point. Jesus paulr how about a little less hyperbole from you for ONCE?!?

It was regarding a potential last choice Salary-Dump trade of Seabrook to Edmonton. In that scenario, Nurse would be a fantastic return. There is nothing about Nurse that doesnt scream Top-Pair NHL dman. This guy has ALL the tools, Cam Barker ALWAYS had bad feet. Nurse will be on Edmonton's top pair this season, and I'm willing to bet on that.

The hawks definitely need to rebuild their defensive core, no doubt. Seabrook and Keith are both over 30 now, if we can get some yound d prospects now it would make it a lot easier to move on from them down the road.

Without a doubt but you can't do it with a current core piece for a he might he could be and then ends up being ehhhhh okay defenseman
