Cuz he's on the checking line. OK? You win. Happy?
- blackhawk24

I would counter with 43 points for the checking line player is pretty damn solid, don't ya think?

It’s kind of funny that I suggested a 2nd and graham/pelech last week and got ripped for it by most of the hawks fans here.
- Isles_since_6

I missed this offer, but if you'd throw in a conditional 4th for Sharp exceeding 50 points, I would do a 2nd and Pelech no problem.

We said that about Rundblad. So did the Yotes and so did the Sens..... Not saying Mayfield will not cut it but prospects are prospects. If you haven't worked with a skating coach by 22?
- tredbrta

Mayfield's skating isn't that horrid, just meant his ability to adapt to the speed in the NHL. He played very well in his PO appearance for isles (which surprised most). Plus Mayfield is mostly a defensive dman, Rundblad is offensive, in a way 2 different types of players.
To me, Rundblad seemed to be able to skate, just his defensive side was lacking (could be wrong?)

Agreed......the return is cap space. that's the #1 priority which then could be used to resign Oduya and solidify arguably the best top 4 D men in the league. that return alone is invaluable.

I never bought into #1 pick, player, and prospect. This isn't a 28 yr old in his prime Sharp like 2010. This is an aging cagey veteran.

- SteveRain

Hossa was a bit younger in 2010 but Sharp could be that type of piece for another team. Hossa came at the expense of letting Havlat walk - so it cost nothing. Maybe a Sharp deal ends up having some performance related picks.

Basically the guy is a AHL level player? Is that what you are saying? Why would the Hawks rather have him than a 4th round pick of their own?

Nice signing by the Blues, Tarasenko very nice player even played hurt against the Wild in the playoffs and still was able to score goals, just curious did he get a no trade clause?
- BetweenTheDots

I would imagine it does one he is eligible. (I believe you can only have one during UFA years, so not for a couple more years)

Haven't seen it reported though.

Yikes, then probably not. Although I'd probably take Graham and Pelech both instead of the 2nd.

Plus Sharp never was [or is] a two-way player like Hoss.

Going to a game does it for most people. It's one of the few sports that watching on TV does it no favors. TV slows the game down. The speed live is fantastic.

Not sure if anyone else brought this up in here but the Hawks are introducing SRO season tickets this year. So few season ticket holders are giving up their seats that they are offering something in the neighborhood of 400 SRO's. Out of 14000 season ticket seats only 22 were given up this year.

How does that work? He had 4 seasons to go before UFA until this deal correct? Blues bought out his RFA time. So is it still 4 seasons?

I don't see the Isle as a good fit for Sharp anyway. I rather him go to Montreal.

Neilsen is meh. He had his career year and the slide has started. His play really fell off last season and he was not very good in the playoffs. 5-6 D-men aren't much either especially with questionable skating. The Hawks use their bottom pair in more of an offensive role with ZS and the likes.

Mayfield for Rundblad then? Done!

What is lacking with Rundblad needs another thread/s. Too much to describe. TVR and Johns should be better I hope. Rundblad is another example though - watch his prospect video on youtube vs where he is today. Completely different look and even the stride has changed. Maybe the coaching screwed him up. Prospects, even first rounders, are crap shoots.

Don't get me wrong, I like Pelech a lot (even if his uncle knows nothing about hockey), but I think Sharp is worth more than he is, and two years is too long to wait for a pick.

That was a great signing. Really thought he wouldn't settle for less than 8. The term is really good too for the Blues.
