This is a classic agree/disagree.. we wont change your mind and you won't change ours.

most fanbases overvalue their players. sharp isnt that great of a trade chip, especially with the hawks current cap situation.

Did you goto the Lightning game as well? There were 85% Hawks fans so it was like a home game in Sunrise not the same in Tampa (60-40 probably for the home team), the reason accessability. I think the point is for the locals it can be a two hour drive after work to get to the games. For a visitor you can do a day at Sawmill or a beach and get there earlier and not worry about having to get up the next day.

Very true, no, did not go to Tampa game, that would have been a 3 1/2 hour drive

its 2 fold. sharp isnt a young pup at this point in his career. hes obviously veering towards the down side of his career. hes also got a relatively high cap hit to go along with that, and teams know the hawks are in trouble c ap wise. the hawks should be happy to move the salary without taking any back at this point.
- flyershockey

The Hawks have gotten something for every tomato can they've traded. Sharp is far from that and still has great speed and has 2 years left at 5.9....a nice value for a team in the Cup window right now. He'll bring a prospect and a pick, you can mark that down. The finagling now is probably more tied to getting Sharp into the situation he wants the most.

Nice signing by the Blues, Tarasenko very nice player even played hurt against the Wild in the playoffs and still was able to score goals, just curious did he get a no trade clause?

In the spirit of getting back to discussing the hawks with people who actually watch the hawks during the season, rather than the playoffs..

John, question.. can you say if this team is in our division?

Well played...and thank you for all the hard work you put into the blog.

I won't reveal their names but I will tell you that the following post here......

1. An NHL off ice game official
2. A media member not affiliated with any newspaper in town
3. A guy who is tight with the Hawks shrink
4. A Hawks employee who works in hockey ops.

I'm pretty sure we have a bunch of wolves in sheep's clothing, but these are the ones I know PERSONALLY post on here. I'm pretty sure we have hawks marketing/interns posting here. I know for certain they were over on the DH. They aren't hard to pick out.

Most of what John gets is right in some capacity at worst. People can take it for what it is, and question or demand "proof" or "links" or "source(s)" but that's what some journalism is about. People choose to share information off the record for 1 reason or the other.

I just find it hilarious that so many call out John but refuse to question well known others when they report information to the masses.

I will also say there is a big difference between John and Ecklund.

After days of this, these posts are so elementary they aren't worth reading or responding to. Thanks for your recommendations, I'm sure Paul Holmgren would agree. They will be passed on to Stanbo to act accordingly.

Not sure I understand the "not worth responding to" and then responding to it tactic, but I'll allow it and see where it ends up.

No one is overvaluing Sharp. However, he will bring back a good package. I'm sorry your organization gave him away for free years ago, but don't throwing out garbage saying he is declining by a huge amount.

He is a 33 yr old forward, with leadership skills, top 6 forward ability and has shown over the years he can score. Oh yeah and 3 Cups on his resume. He also has a 5.9 cap hit, which is hamstringing things as well. No one is overvaluing him, except say Bowman. I want fair value. Simply dumping him for a 7th and cap relief is unrealistic. As is it unrealistic expect a 1st, NHL ready player and top prospect. But somewhere in the middle is acceptable. The guy will be valuable to a team on the rise who needs veteran leadership and who has cap room to spare.

Between Flyers and Isles fans, I feel like we as Blackhawk fans are beating our heads against a wall and fighting a battle with "cant fix stupid".

Are you dense man? We watch the games, we know how the team works. Line 1 and line 4 are the main shutdown lines. Lines 2 and 3 are more for offensive zone starts over D-zone starts. Don't come in here and mock me for providing insight into the team. It's not hard to see why Sharps production dropped on a line without Toews and Kane, and he was hurt, which you seem to ignore. He actually lost his top line spot after the injury because Saad was tearing it up.

Only if they have bloody mary specials to help out. Honestly, there's just so much to do, especially for people who hate the cold haha. Beach, paddle boarding, boating, fishing, the list goes on. Even if they were a contending club, they wouldn't draw. They just won't.
- HawksHype

Haha. That's wild, but I guess it makes sense. I've only been to Miami once, and it seems pretty wild out there. A lot of stuff to do outdoors.

I didn't say you were overvaluing him. That was someone else. I'm not sure i understand the "can't fix stupid" comment. can you elaborate that.

you going to bring up snowballs and santa claus too? it has nothing to do with the trade made years ago, when no one in the nhl considered sharp an above average nhl prospect. no one. there arent many teams who need leadership, have cap space and are close to winning a cup. i dont see a team not close to a cup trading for sharp and helping the blackhawks, call me crazy.

Don't respond to him anymore. It's like listening to bandwagon fans who only watch the team during the finals and pretend to know what they are talking about.
