Since everyone seems to be playing CSI NHL.
What if the Hawks had a deal set up where Crawford and Sharp were both going to Florida and Sharp nixed it because he does not like Crawford. There were rumors earlier in the year that an incident happened involving Sharp, Crow and Keith so who knows.
Not saying that this happened, just making conversation. - waitforawhistle

Why nope on bolland? - Maggie
Cap hit for the role he serves. The ridiculously stupid money spent by FLA on him just about a year ago doesn't get a whole lot smarter, especially given his penchant for injury.
I loved The Rat for the role he served on the 2010 and 2013 teams. Now? Not nearly as much. And a little of that is on SB for overall cap management here.
Think it was more of a projection than assumption. The only big contracts they've handed out in the past two years are the Kane/Toews extensions. Can't fault Stan for extending the wonder twins. Hard to predict a weak Canadian dollar. - tobias
Common really mincing words Toews Kane had to sign them CC got a very nice deal, Bickell deal was nice as well both have NTC's
Panthers want Sharp, in a BIG WAY, but that makes it hard for them to accept his condition. They want him long term as part of their marketing the team in South FL, "face of the franchise," trust me Panthers fans, that is a good role for him.
His condition is the problem. he wants an assurance if they're not competitive that he can go elsewhere. It is at a "standstill" over this.
There is another team, possibly the Islanders, that has given Bowman a drop dead date for their deal. Something could happen soon. - John Jaeckel
Sounds strange to me, a little bit the opposite of a NMC - like a Must Move Clause if I don't like playing with you idiots.
Maybe he is worried that the team is hemorrhaging money and the owners might pull the plug and decide to sell off players to save money and he would be stuck there.
They're young, but they're really talented. Impressed by what I saw of them last season. - howiehandles
I agree and Sharp can go there and be "The guy." Three Cups and veteran experience to lead a young, talented team. Seems like a good move if I'm Sharp, but we don't know all the inner workings of what's really going on or offered.

I think Florida will be the first team moved to another city. Maybe he's concerned about playing in Quebec City?

....or if you're not going to be "competitive" then for sure I want to be paid now.

RE: Sharp to FL
Just got independent confirmation from a guy who works at the CBS affiliate in Miami. He heard almost the same rumor from a source down there, close to the team and has had good info in the pas—he also says it could still be alive as a possible deal - John Jaeckel
Just wondering what the good info in the past is? Previous knowledge of a trade before it happened....if you could elaborate on that I'd appreciate it.

Just heard this.

It's the definition of 'competitive' that's holding this deal up... the team could be competitive in fighting for an 8th place finish each season but end up 9th...
does that mean he'd get an out or does it mean they were in the fight and he stays...
maybe he defines competitive as in 'making the playoffs' every year... or being within 2 points of 8th... maybe it's making the playoffs in 2 out of every 3 years....

I'm not sure about Florida. They've made it a long time down there. I would think Arizona moves first. They're literally trying to be kicked out by the city.

AZ is being kept in place by Bettman at all costs because of the importance regionally for a future Network TV deal. If AZ moves the team a network TV deal will not happen. Florida doesn't hold the same importance.
