Van Riemsdyk's contract very cap friendly for the Blackhawks, AAV of $850,000.

- DarthKane

Weird, he took a pay cut based on hockeybuzz cap/salary info. he made $925K last year

If I were am NHL hockey player Florida would not be a "great landing spot". At his age I'm sure Sharp wants to do more than accept a paycheque, I'm sure he still wants to play on a contending team that still has a chance to win it all. You're barking up the wrong tree here, neither side, Sharp or the hawks, is, or should be concerned about anything but their own situation.
- paulr

This is simply a difference in philosophy between you and I. I think loyalty to an organization/player you've been with for 10 years counts and should be a factor in this process, within reason of course. And, most have been saying that this has been an open-communication process with Sharp and the Front Office so IDK if the bolded holds true in this situation.

Just heard this.

Panthers want Sharp, in a BIG WAY, but that makes it hard for them to accept his condition. They want him long term as part of their marketing the team in South FL, "face of the franchise," trust me Panthers fans, that is a good role for him.

His condition is the problem. he wants an assurance if they're not competitive that he can go elsewhere. It is at a "standstill" over this.

There is another team, possibly the Islanders, that has given Bowman a drop dead date for their deal. Something could happen soon.

Maybe it's a one-way contract. Might have been an incentive for him. Otherwise, great bargain for the team.

Sure it has some incentives, like playing a min number of games.

He also missed 80% of last season too. SB can worry about him about this time in '18.

Loyalty is a two way street. And if I'm reading all this correctly, it sounds like Sharp is trying to accomodate the Hawks as much as the Hawks are trying to accomodate him.

I think if you look at florida's lineup they shouldn't have an issue being competitive, they have some really nice young players and cap space to ad vets.

2 more for TVR! Defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk has signed a two-year extension with the #Blackhawks. Release: http://onego.al/Pi4Os

- JRoenick97

Very good move by Bowman and we can all see what he is doing here, COST CERTAINTY...now TVR goes onto Stan's "Big Board" for 2018...another player cost controlled so no more surprises.

He most certainly did. Sharp earned his NTC, but these "terms and conditions" go well beyond that limited NTC, IMO.
- EnzoD

No player earns a NTC, simply because no player can guarantee that he can maintain a high level of play until the end of his contract. And no GM should give out NTC's simply because they cannot accurately predict the needs of their team in the future--as we have so often seen!

Any player worthy of a no-trade clause does not need one. He will be kept on the team as long as he should be kept.

If a no-trade or no-movement clauses is permitted, it should automatically expire when the GM who awarded it is replaced!

If I'm understanding this correctly, FLA has to have one of their own rostered players approve said-trade because he has a NTC.

The Panthers with NTC's are:

Bolland - Nope.
Jokinen - Double-nope.
Campbell - Way too expensive - nope.
Mitchell - Possibly, but hefty hit for a 38-year-old. Nope.
Bobby Lu - Hmmm ....

- TommyHawk

Why nope on bolland?

If Sharp wants to be on a competitive team, I think Florida is a good landing spot. They've been improving over the years and I think next year could be a break-out year, if not, the year after. But they're getting close to putting the pieces together.

There are literally 12/13 teams in the eastern conference I can see making the playoffs next year. I think he wants assurances that the Panthers are willing to make the necessary steps to be one of those teams that are more than competitive, that they spend to add players and to win.

Since everyone seems to be playing CSI NHL.
What if the Hawks had a deal set up where Crawford and Sharp were both going to Florida and Sharp nixed it because he does not like Crawford. There were rumors earlier in the year that an incident happened involving Sharp, Crow and Keith so who knows.
Not saying that this happened, just making conversation.

Most likely a one way deal? That would make sense. His $925K only pays out if he's playing with the big club. Now he makes his full salary regardless.
