Trades also happen. If something doesn't get worked out would you rather them go to arbitration and then have Del Zotto get awarded something the Flyers don't want to pay? If they walk away from him it would be for nothing then.

Do you think Hextall is looking ahead incase they can't come to agreement even though he hopes to get something worked out?

I'm far from 100% positive, but I think once a player elects arbitration, he can't be traded. I think, but again, not positive, I certainly could be wrong about that.

I didn't think Scott Laughton played that great before the concussion.

I think he could be counted on for 40 or 50 points, along with being a steady defensive presence and a top faceoff guy.

I agree, his play with the puck definitely wasn't on par with his play away from the puck. He needs some more time and development, whether that is in the NHL or AHL.

I disagree.. He didnt look out of place at all.. He had very bad puck luck, but his motor and positioning were not out of place at all. He had a ton of great chances, but the puck wasnt going home. That happens... For a rookie he look really comfortable, until the head injury.

The problem is a line needs to have a mix of players that compliment each other. If all the players on a line, are players that keep going to net, and there isn't a puck carrier and distributor on the line to make plays, the puck doesn't get to the net consistently enough, to take advantage of going to the net. One of the Flyers problems in 5 on 5 play is generating shots.

That's something that comes with development... Can't expect every 21 year old in the nhl to be able to make perfect passes/ plays every time the puck hits his stick. All part of learning how to play in the big game.

Agreed! Like I pointed out, Wayne Simmonds is one of the best inthe league for driving the net, Scott Laughton doesn't need to be that guy.

Im not denying that he needs to continue to develop.. But I also think he would be fine to start the year with the Flyers. I dont think the AHL is gonna hurt him, but I also dont think its gonna turn him into a stud..

It would be fine if Laughton is that guy, but he wasn't ready for that last season. His offensive game isn't there yet. He's strong on his skates, strong on the puck in board battles, and a strong forchcker. His play with the puck needs further development.
