Armia didn't play full seasons in the Elite league. He clipped at a 25-30 goal pace over 80 games there though, against men as a teenager.

He isn't a bust yet, at all.

And no I don't value all of them over the 3 we got.

However I do value losing all of these assets in a years period as possibly very detrimental

Grigorenko - 1st round pick
Armia - 1st round pick
Lemieux -early 2nd
Compher - early 2nd
Zadorov- 1st round pick
1st round pick -25th
1st round pick- 22nd
2nd rou d pick 31st.

That's a lot of assets to proclaim will never amount to anything decent.

If I had to guess, in 2 years we will look back on the Kane trade and realize we got burned. O'Reilly trade will probably be fine

- sbroads24

do I need to re-post all the pieces the sabres got for vanek?

Lemiuex in competition with Bailey, Baptiste, Fasching.
Grigorenko, Compher in competition with Eichel, Reinhart, Girgensons, Larsson

You cant keep stockpiling picks and drafting players. Eventually they would get traded or lost... we turned those unknowns into proven players who are only 24... we are getting more than "decent".

The only real value we lost was Zadorov as it left a hole on our left side. Which by all indications could be filled by McCabe. And we have unproven upside in Martin (2nd rounder), Guhle (2nd rounder) and Stephens (5th rounder)

- theblueandgold

So there was 0% chance Armia or Lemiuex or even Grigorenko could have separated themselves from guys like Bailey? OK then

You argue this side every time. I happen to think Grigs will end up flourishing in Colorado. Zads too. Myers will be great in Winnipeg. Armia may even be decent. Hell, even Cody Hodgson will probably be close to a 20 G player in Nashville. None of that matters at all. They didn't fit here is all that matters. Kane and Bogo are more valuable to Buffalo than Myers and Stafford were. Period. Your fixation on what people we give away will do is growing tiresome.

This. The horse has left the barn. Time to move on from players that have left the organization and focus on the future. A very bright future indeed....

I don't buy that they could flourish in Colorado or WPG but not in Buffalo.

Either way, we got good players, I'm excited. I'm not jumping ship or anything. I just would have done it a little different

Your role can dictate your success. If they weren't given the chance here because of the roster makeup, they definitely could be more successful elsewhere.

Armia? My ship has sailed on him. Its possible I'll feel the same way about Bailey or Baptiste or Fasching in 3 years too. But Armia is further ahead in development and has shown me nothing.

Lemiuex is a one dimensional player. He can score goals. I have no interest in valuing that over what Baptiste, Bailey and Fasching provide.

Grigorenko and Compher caught in numbers game. I have more faith in Eichel, Reinhart, Larsson, Girgensons and now ROR.

It doesn't matter what those guys become to me anymore.

One year ago people thought Larsson was toast, then like you said he serrated himself from others.

You are assuming no one else would do the same

Been away for a week. Didn't miss much except for the ROR deal. Love the deal. It looks like a 1.5m over payment right now but we locked up a guy that will be hoisting a cup for us one day! Plus the deal could look like a steal in 3-4 years if ROR plays to what we think we can. Plus cap will go up.

Any word on trades or guys we are going after in free agency? I really hope we get a top 4 dman...

Honestly even though all that was for Vanek who has been pretty disappointing since leaving it still doesn't seem like much. I have seen other teams get a lot more for rentals. Its like GMTM wanted to get rid of as much Darcy as possible. including draft picks lol

There's a couple of very interesting scenarios that will undoubtedly play out this summer. What will the Rangers do with Derek Stepan? If they sign him to a big contract (6M) it puts the squeeze on their cap situation. Does that mean Keith Yandle gets moved and could the Sabres get involved?

Another is Chicago. Do they move Sharp or Bickell so they will have some wiggle room to re-sign Johnny Oduya. If not, do the Sabres get involved?

Thirdly, Philadelphia. They have 7 d men signed for next season and Michael Del Zotto would make 8, when he's re-signed. Do the Flyers want 8 dmen on their roster with not a lot of cap space to begin with? He has elected salary arbitration. That could be a sticky wicket. Do the Sabres get involved?

i hope they get involved someway. We need to add another dman and not just for depth. Another player on the rangers to target could be staal.
