ROR is what you hope Grigo or Compher become.

Kane is what you hope Lemiuex or Armia become.

Bogo for Myers is a wash all things considering.

Only real value lost is Zadorov and the draft picks. I'll take that any day of the week for PROVEN NHL players 24 years of age or younger that have yet to hit their prime.

Take a look at the draft, how many players actually become NHL players. You'll be lucky to get 2 guys out of a single draft that contribute to the NHL. I'm fine with losing prospects for proven NHL guys.

- theblueandgold

Look at the players we traded for, they were once prospects, who were once draft picks.
Where was O'Reilly drafted?

you move out zadarov, armia, lemieux, gringo, compher, myers, 2 late first rd and pick 31 to get

ror, kane, bogo and a goalie who has only won in the ahl

that's 9 decent assets from the prospect pool to get what you expect to be 4 impact players

it did make the prospect pool take a big hit

not to mention whatever they could have received for staff at the deadline (a second rd pick?)

- homiedclown

We have plenty of forwards in the organization under 24, be it in the NHL or the AHL so I am not worried at all about Armia or Grigorenko. The defense is short, I agree with that but we can't turn around the worst team in the NHL in one year. I know you don't think so but this is going to take some time to become a serious contender.

He didn't want zads or grigs on the team. It wouldn't surprise me if they go back to a no Russian policy. And lemieux didn't want to sign with buffalo for whatever reason. Armia was a good prospect. And Myers was Myers. Compher is a decent prospect. But overall he unloaded contracts he didn't want and picked up ones he did.

After Reinhart and Eichel are considered NHL'ers, our best prospect would be McCabe or Fasching.

That's a significant drop off from Zadorov, Grigorenko and Armia who were all top 50 prospects last year.

- sbroads24

I'd put Baptiste ahead of Fasching.

Armia is bordering on bust.

Gringo is still an AHL player that is being forced to NHL or waiver claim.

Lemiuex is NOWHERE close to being NHL ready compared to Bailey, Baptiste, McCabe, Ullmark, Fasching... I'd take all 4 over Lemiuex.

The picks... nowhere close to being NHL ready compared to the prospects in the system for a couple years.

Youre wrong.

- theblueandgold

I'm sorry but I hate when people rewrite history.

Up until Armia was moved hebhad a great year in Rochester

His 20 games he struggled after the trade means NOTHING.

It's like saying Myers is a bonafide #1 defensemen because he played a great 20 games after being traded, and Stafford is a 30 goal scorer

Does it matter? These guys are 24 years of age or younger that have 2-4 years before they hit their prime.

I'll take the NHL proven talent 10 times out of 10.

I'll be willing to guarantee that Compher and Grigorenko come nowhere close to what ROR brings. And that Armia, Lemiuex bring nothing close to Kane. Hit me back up in 5-8 years and make me claim the eat my crow token.

Baker seems to really like Fasching. Baptiste may have the numbers so far but Faschings game may translate better at the pro level.

I agree but there now is a gap between eichel, reinhart, and risto from the players you listed

armia, gringo, lemieux, picks 21 and 31 would have all been better and closer to playing in the nhl then any of those players you listed though

- homiedclown

Seems like Armia might not get his chance.

your forgetting where I would take ror, kane over the prospects

for 2015-16 the player I listed were more NHL ready then the 4 you listed

the gap today is bigger

the gap tomorrow will probably be gone and those players you listed have the upside to have better nhl careers

Well considering I personally attended at least 20 Rochester games this past year (I dont know how many you went to), I wouldnt say Armia had a "great" year. Hes a very inconsistent player. And hes nothing like the player we expected him to be. He was always a boom or bust player from the second we drafted him. I would say his entire time he was in Rochester he struggled. Showed brilliance once every 10 games.

Myers is a top pairing guy before and after the trade, much like Bogosian was a top pairing guy before and after the trade. I know we loved Myers equally, but unlike you, I'm ready to move on.

What?
So everyone we got rid of sucks & everyone we kept is better?
That's quite the "homer" post
pretty naive & unrealistic too

You think all those prospects listed have better upside to have better careers than ROR or Kane? Is that what youre telling me? You're out to lunch.

Baptiste seems to me as the perfect 3rd line RW. You could make the same case for Fasching I suppose. Nice problem to have.

where did I say anything remotely close to that?

I said the prospects moved were more ready to play roles in the NHL this coming season then what we have left

JT Compher is almost a sure thing to be a pretty good NHL'er. He does everything well. Brendan Lemieux is already exceeding expectations with how much he's scoring in juniors, and Zadorov was supposed to take 3-4 years to even play an NHL game.

Acting like we know how these guys will turn out is hilarity

Well. Considering that all 3 players we acquired in recent trades were playing in the NHL as 18-19 year olds, I would say even as prospects, and most definitely NOW as NHL players at their ages they are better than what we gave up.

You can call it homerism, I call it realism.
