Is this the same ROR that was 31st in points (centers) and outside the top 40 in PP points?
- bmorgan777

Nope - it's the ROR who's top 5 in the NHL in 5 on 5 points for 60 minutes, possession analytics and #1 in the NHL in forced turnovers. Any other q's jealous troll? Thought not

yup all true, just the only knock against him that bugged me in the west is that he is not physicaly....I know its Burns and he can do it with mostly anyone...but man was it frustrating to watch a bigger dude in ROR get molested by Burns.

Salary cap last 3 years: 64.3M, 69M, 71.4M (10% increase in 3 years)
59.4M to 71.4M last 5 years (20% increase in total; 4% each year)

Projecting out, in 4 years, the cap should be around 82M. Having a 1b, 2a guy..... it's not the worst thing. I certainly think he should have got no more than 7, but you pay UFA price.

- AlfieisKing

Not sure its as easy as that as the Rogers deal is priced in for another 3 or 4 years I think and I don't see them getting paid in the US to show games.

I've asked this before but I read somewhere that the only reason that the cap went up this year was due to an option the NHLPA had for a 5% increase or the cap wouldn't have gone up. Does anyone know anything about that and if true when do the players have to pay the piper on that 5% increase?

Fair enough though I don't recall his hit total from last year. Obviously another plus is he doesn't take stupid penalties. As for PP points, I'm guessing he didn't get huge PP minutes

Jealous? No. I like ROR. I'm just saying at that salary you should get a little more production. When does he get to 60-70 points with the Sabres? Does Buffalo have the finishers to play with him? Now, I know the Sabres and you don't care about the impact on other salaries, but what is Stamkos and Kopitar worth?

oh yeah, there are some gems concpets.

Lots of traditional, almost Canadiens style...not my favorite, but if they ditched their black pants, gloves, helmet...it would make a huge difference

But I think they just need to bring back the Rocky Mountain Striping, and that will fix a lot

- DDM-Coga

I actually love their use of black for the pants, gloves and helmet, it compliments the maroon and blue perfectly. I personally hate uniforms that are too mono-colored.

This would be perfect but I honestly loved the blue 3rds and wouldn't mind that style applied to a home and away set with the classic A logo.

no he got 1st unit PP time, but the Avs pp sucked in general, so don't be alarmed with that

ROR probably averages around 22 hits a season, so not physical at all. very smart and well conditioned since he isnt exerting a lot of energy engaging in battles, so he is always healthy.

if they went back to that striping, I would be happy...but I can see why they wouldnt change the design now.

The whole jersey contract is up, and Reebok might not be biding on it. Saw that underarmour is interested in it. So the NHL could get a whole new rebrand in a year or 2 if they win that contract

ROR got paid like what he is, Bergeron-type player and salary. 7.5 for ROR, Stamkos easily gets at least 11 so I'd say his AAV, though a little too high, is just right for the term. 4 years from now, he'd be getting 9 on the open market as a 24 year old FA with the same style and production. So it's whatever. We got a great player and at a price literally every other team in the league would have given him.

I would cautiously welcome Under Armour as a uniform brand. I say this because of what Nike has done to American Football, and it isn't for the better. See: Cleveland Browns Nikefied uniforms. Maybe the worst uniforms, EVER. And I actually loved their previous/classic look.

So if TM is done ( hope not I want a young D traded for)

What team is the most improved on paper in the NHL?

I have 3 teams that really impressed me, in no particular order:

Buffalo
Calgary
Anaheim

What say you guys and gals even though goose is at the lake.

Look at what NBA players are getting, and people are ragging on NHL contracts.

I did like the moves the Cap made, the Sharks are just hanging on IMO as is Detroit.

Was there really any FA's that are real difference makers this year? Now next year is going to be interesting.

He's a good two way player. 1.94 5 on 5 pts per 60, better than Kopitar, Ovechkin, and H. Sedin. Great at taking the puck away from the opposing team. Also a great possession player. Oh, and he hates to lose. I'll take my chances with this deal, I think it will pay off. Reminds me of Chris Drury.

NSH needs a 3rd line center to get to cap floor, and he can go play for Lavy

Just praying to unload him. Hexy's worked his magic getting ARZ To take a retired guy and one of the worst dmen in the NHL for Sam Gagner... and a 3rd for Rinaldo, so hoping he can pull strings once more and unload Vinny.

Yeah you do have a very good point. Calgary really did screw the Avs over when they did that. In my opinion, I think he would be getting paid 6M on this contract if they did not offer sheet him. And yeah, not looking forward to when money is a problem haha.
- SabresNHL

Calgary caught a serious break that Colorado matched the offer sheet, if they hadn't they would have got the picks and ROR would have had to clear waivers, leaving the Flames with nothing.

I would think Feaster expected them to match, but he was a "special" man to say the least so I guess I'll never know.

I was so hoping the Avs wouldn't match. I wanted to see that flames press conference.
