We damn well better and he better beat us every game for the next 3 years. We need to tank too!!! It is our turn!!
- Steven_Dean

3 years!? It won't take you that long to rebuild. You have a good pipeline already and Babcock. Will be much better once Toronto and Buffalo have good teams, very fun to watch.

I love how people are saying it is Calgary's fault that ROR is making 7.5 AAV, saying this contract would be around 6 if they hadn't.

Hate to be that guy, but if Calgary never offer-sheets him, Colorado never trades him and Buffalo certainly never even sniffs his jockstrap.

I'm fine with the contract.

If Calgary never offersheeted him, he either signed that bridge deal of 2.5mx2 or he got his 5mx5 deal that he wanted. Either way he was going to be a 7m man probably in 2017 anyways

Well I never implied he would've been a Sabre if that hadn't happened. I'm just saying that he may not have asked for that kind of money and his salary could've possibly been lower. I'm not one to complain about this deal, we've seen much worse in recent years (Ehrhoff, Leino).

I'm hoping for a Calgary rebuild but am comfortable going a Chicago type rebuild.

In any case just make sure you guys beat us every game next year so we can finish 30th. We could really use that. Lol.

That's still 2 years away so m00t point.

Do you think old management (frank)ed it up with ROR or do you think the team won't miss a beat without him?

I dont think they (frank)ed up, but they didnt handle it the textbook. They needed to make a move like this eventually. If D and overall prospect depth is an issue and you have a talented forward slotted number 4 on your depth chart...might as well move him now at max value instead of hoping he resigns. Honestly if they moved Stastny earlier this might have not been an issue, but I understand not moving him if a team is winning their division, tough trade to make at the time.

They needed to address those needs eventually, it was a painful trade they had to make the team better moving forward

Still need to make a trade for a young top 4 d and move out a forward or two but I like this offseason so far.

So do you think losing Stastny but trading ROR for Zadorov and Grigorenko works out better for the Avs in the long run? Serious question, Colorado has always been my Western team and I want to see them do good.

P.S. They really missed the mark on the "new" jerseys. I'm not a fan of the C over the Footprint (one of the best secondary logos, EVER) and they didn't remove that putrid piping...

As previously mentioned by many, Zads was a great pick up by the Avs. I hope both he and Grigorenko flourish in Colorado. However, I don't think Grigs will clear waivers so I am guessing that he has a guaranteed spot on the team. With the signing of Soderberg as 3C, where do you see him playing? Hopefully not 4C because he is not suited for that role.

O'reilly cap numbers the last 4 years of the deal is only 5 million a year. Gmtm front loaded it when we can, and saved some money for eichel, Reinhart, etc

I think if they could have traded Stastny earlier and got a young Dman or a Pick that turned into a 1st round Dman...maybe the pressure to move ROR for that package changes.

Losing Stastny, ROR, and McGinn in 2 years but to gain Grigo, Zads, and money to sign Soderberg and extend Mack, EJ, and Barrie...I think it was the right move even though the Avs didnt get the best player in the trade right now (or at all)

And I agree...I hate those jerseys, but I am hoping for big things with the stadium series and new thirds. I hoep there is such a demand of them they realize that changing the current designs is a good idea

cap is still 7.5m every year, no room was saved to sign those guys cap wise. Terry is a Billion on Billionare. I dont think saving 2m bucks for a couple of years phases him salarywise

im still confused if he has to clear waivers or not? He only has 68 games of NHL experience and I was looking up the rule, I kept on seeing something like 120gms?

Salary cap last 3 years: 64.3M, 69M, 71.4M (10% increase in 3 years)
59.4M to 71.4M last 5 years (20% increase in total; 4% each year)

Projecting out, in 4 years, the cap should be around 82M. Having a 1b, 2a guy..... it's not the worst thing. I certainly think he should have got no more than 7, but you pay UFA price.

Yes he did. But imo he is not a good as ROR and benefited greatly from a stacked Hawks team. I do not think he is gonna be all that great away from them.
- Orphen22

Is this the same ROR that was 31st in points (centers) and outside the top 40 in PP points?

Fans ever throw around any good designs online?

I wonder if this signals a shift (it probably does) where younger players are actually going to be paid for current and future production, as opposed to the old days when some 35 year old was expecting Max dollars for something he had done 7-8 years earlier.

As for a strike, what for? All of the salary paid in the league, regardless of how it's distributed, is still a percentage of revenue. Everyone seems to be making out.

I'm also sure this signing bonus thing will be stopped though.

oh yeah, there are some gems concpets.

Lots of traditional, almost Canadiens style...not my favorite, but if they ditched their black pants, gloves, helmet...it would make a huge difference

But I think they just need to bring back the Rocky Mountain Striping, and that will fix a lot
