This deal is really not that bad when you compare it to what Saad just got. With the cap going up, I don't think we will regret this in the future. Now that he is (likely) the star of the show in Buffalo on the top line, how many points do you think he gets? I am thinking 60, but his ceiling could be as high as 70 when you think about it.

Well I don't know if you have considered the elite defensive aspects of his game, but that certainly is a factor. Plus he was already getting paid at a similar range before he was acquired.

Yeah you do have a very good point. Calgary really did screw the Avs over when they did that. In my opinion, I think he would be getting paid 6M on this contract if they did not offer sheet him. And yeah, not looking forward to when money is a problem haha.
