i dont even know what a reasonable price for 2nd and 3rd liners are anymore after Toews and Kane set the bar for 1st liners... pretty much any 1st liner with a new contract is guaranteed minimum 7M now

One goal of Hextall's has been to make the AHL team better, kind of ingrain the idea of being a winner from the ground up. It seems like the Flyers will use the AHL team more as a developmental tool than they did in the past, when it was filled with fringe prospects, random AHL vets and undrafted FAs from NCAA or CHL.

Scott Laughton is the first Flyers 1st rounder that I can recall spending significant time in the AHL since Steve Downie(in a non lockout season, anyhow)

They see Konecny as a RW for now. Laughton can play LW, not sure if it was the Flyers or Berube that was adamant about keeping him at C.

Could use Laughton as a 4th liner for now, no rush, really to move him. Might be nice to have the cheap insurance if Schenn or Couturier explode and start looking for huge paydays.

I'd explore all avenues trying to get RJ out of town a little sooner and put Laughton in at LW. I do think he's got some big roadblocks in front of him on the depth chart though.

If they could swap him for a LW prospect of similar value I would certainly consider doing so.

Just double checked, the signing bonus in O'Reilly's deal isn't escrow protected, however, bonuses paid on July 1st will protect him from missing checks in case of a lockout.
