Congrats on the trade.

Your power play will be scary this year!

This team has won 3 playoff games in 3 yrs. how many road blocks could there be if the kid has the talent. I think he does.

Roster limits and the salary cap. 13 forwards on one way deals, including Vinny(NMC means no AHL) and Umberger who likely can't be traded, anyhow. Then at least 7 D on one way contracts and two goalies. There's only one spot at most for a kid to step in without another trade

It's nice for the player getting a huge check each July 1st. Then he can put that cash to work instead of waiting for it

Hradek tweeted that his contract can't be bought out due to the bonuses.

It can be bought out, but the impact on the Sabres cap would be so negligible that it'd be worthless to do a buy out.

If the Sabres bought him out next June, they'd have a cap hit of $6,666,666 on their cap from 2016-17 thru 2022-23, then $166K for another 6 years.

So, for about $833K in savings it's not worth the buy out

Ah, okay, that makes sense. I thought he meant that it couldn't be bought out per CBA rule, but it's really a financial issue that makes it no doable.

Thanks

If Letang stays healthy, at one point, Malkin at the other.

Syd on 1/2 wall, cheeseburger Phil in the slot, & Hornqvist screening ala Tomas Holmstrom.

Pretty for you guys, scary for everyone else

Anyone have an idea about the talks between Philadelphia and Edmonton regarding our defense? Other than what Ek has posted.

I don't see us being that bad, but if we are we'll be rewarded with a great prospect in the draft.

He gets a contract -- Flyers can either accept or walk away from the award. Probably means he's going UFA if he has another good year.

I'm surprised the owners let that happen in the CBA.

Wouldn't think it's much, or as much as somebody is willing to pay.
