Pretty sure it carries similar penalties it's a controlled substance, a heavily controlled substance at that.

Yeah but to me it's different than a street drug or a party drug. As evidenced by the fact that he wasn't arrested.

Is there a team in worse long-term shape than the Canucks? They are near the cap with aging roster filled with NTC's. At least other teams get to cash in their aging stars. Vancouver is mostly stuck with theirs.

Yeah, I'm exaggerating a bit BUT look at GMTM's track record for.drafting Russians in. Buffalo and as an asst gm

I do agree, players from other parts of the world bring with them various traits and American and Canadian kids , grow up watching, playing, not just "Ice Hockey" but the National Hockey League and the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There is certainly somthing to be said for having that at such an early age.

Correct - shoots left but plays right defense, more comfortable on the right side and always has played right
- turbo044

link? Everything i've seen points to him being a lefty who plays left defence

It's been referenced numerous times in these threads the last few days and in his media session, Bielsma said, "he shoots left but we played him on the right (in Pittsburvh) because he was more comfortable there." I'm not making this sh@t up cuz I wish he played on the left too.

Let go? That sucks I thought he did a good job with the goalies we had last year. Was hoping he'd be able to play a big role in the coming years

Murray should be talking to Minnesota. They are full of young defenseman and just for mike oreilly. Heard they were looking for a center and trying to unload cap space.

I hope Irbe wasn't Bylsma's decision, b/c he has a lot to prove with this team and I'd think that a competent goal tending coach would help him in the one area that seemed to fail him every year in Pitt: Goalie

A year ago we had the assets to beat CBJ for Saad.

This is kind of why I hated trading 800 prospects and picks within a few months.

That 22nd pick + a couple prospects could (maybe) have gotten him.

Imagine Saad and O'Reilly

Word I read was that they couldn't come to a deal not that Bylsma didn't want to keep him.

I'll take Kane and O'Reilly...and yes, we traded prospects because we had a boat load and some were never going to make it at all or past 3rd liners. Zads will be good, Lemieux might be or he might be a 3rd or 4th liner.

You have to give to get yada, yada, yada

Definitely. Fans act like Murray nailed the one and only deals possible, but there are many ways to skin that cat.

I know you havent been on for a bit, but to sum it up, over the past few days various reports have come out. It is now known that Irbe didn't want to come to the NHL, he really loves being back in Europe with his family and coaching for about the same money. He is a hero in his home country. He really does want to live there. He came after countless requests from Ted Nolan, a close friend. They had built a friendship while Nolan was away fron the NHL and more involved in Europe. Long story, but in the end. It was more of a mutual thing that both sides came to only after Robin Lehner was aquired. Lehner has his own style and its not what Irbe believes in. Lehner and Bylsma will be obtaining the best Goaltending Choaching staff money can buy and I mean as much as it costs. We won't have to worry about Bylsma going all rogue and playing a goaltender that is beloved by the front office, (Andre' Fluery) Good God that guy is a head case. When he's on his game the team is playing like poop, when the team is playing out of their heads he goes from Elite to AHL, most tenders have a bottom level of even off nights of being average, but not Fleury......I don't know if Crosby will ever touch the Cup again. Unless he is moved late in his career to a powerhouse.

We have 8 already

I run two dynasty leagues for hockey, one is in its 5th year, the other is a friends and family going into its first offseason. I tried last year to put one together with HockeyBuzzers, but didn't get enough interest.

If anyone is interested in doing one, please PM me, looking for 10, maybe 12 teams.

Come on......Really? We just nailed two Premium Young Forwards, both with Skill/Grit/Youth/ and the two biggest deals for the NHL in 2 years! What we have done, is unprecedented in its speed and articulate design, all the while being completely Transparent.

I decent size trade occurrs where I believe BOTH teams, in fact I think Columbus may have given up TOO much as they sent their 1st Round 21 yr Centermen with an excellent coming out party this past season. "Marko Dano" 1st Round Draft Choice, 21 yrs old, Played his first 35 games in the NHL and scored 21 points. Artem Anisimoz (27) strong player wherever he goes with a really nice small cap hit. This was a 7 man trade. There weren't a lot of draft picks or any. So this was in the works for some time, if you ask me.

We can't get EVERY player that gets traded.

That is a great point!!
Letting Irbe go was huge mistake.
Are we going to go after any UFAs??

I, for one, am glad we will have a good team on the ice (with a great future) and a good prospect pool, rather than the crappiest team ever with the most awesome prospect pool ever.
