Jokinen wasn't a listless malcontent, it's apples and oranges.

Perron is also a guy not afraid to play in the dirty areas. Depending on who they get, they may want to take a look at what Geno and Perron can do together when both are healthy.

I haven't seen it from Perron. He spent the last couple of months last year floating around uselessly.

Semin has 62 goals in his last 243 games.

He's useless trash, and would be a negative influence on the team with his pansy-emo attitude.

- hardnosed

Uhm....that's a 20 goal pace.

The only legitimate question about Semin's ability to produce is if the wrist injury is permanently debilitating, which they'll check with his physical. Other than that, whether you like him or not, he produces.

Exactly. Plus why give the two best wingers to Sid? We'd be better off splitting it between Sid and Geno.

Horny - Sid is a natural

Saad - Geno has everything to work.

Which is not what the Penguins should be looking for to make sure that Crosby and Malkin have the support they need to succeed in the playoffs. They've got a bunch of guys capable of putting up 20 goals.

Did you watch him at all in Edmonton? Did you see all the times players were going after him behind the play because of what he was doing? Now on a wing with Hornqvist, he wasn't there as much, but that's how he's played for years.

My fear is that JR will grab him cheap and call it a day. That roster will blow and thats putting too much faith into a project player Semin and a player that has never sniffed NHL hockey (Plat). That could be disastrous or marginally better than last yr.
- sammy87

Still better than overpaying in assets for Skinner, Kessel, or Sharp. Besides, I thought you said the team had no chance next season anyway?

So most deals are dead set already. Hopefully Tikhonov and Semin become Penguins.

Francis is always very careful in what he says publicly. The guy has been the epitome of class throughout his career as a player and in the front office. When he comes out and says something like this, it catches a person off-guard.

Perron back checked hard 99% of the time he was on the ice

He was more pest than grinder. Whatever you want to call it, he was Charmin soft with the Penguins. And he had plenty of time to assert himself with Hornqvist out of the lineup late in the year.

The Perron trade looks awful at this point. First rounder for a 3rd liner. Pretty much what all the Edmonton fans said he was going to be.

They do? Please don't tell me you expect Kunitz, Dupuis, or Sutter to score 20 next year.

They both did. Go back and watch some of the games. You'll be surprised. I always made sure to watch him when he was on the ice especially after he started slumping and people here were claiming that he quit.

They don't and semin doesn't change

Semin had 6 goals in 57 games last year, a blistering pace of 8.63 over an 82 game season.

Nick Spaling was a more productive goal scorer.

It was always noticeable to me how much harder Hornqvist and Kunitz worked compared to Perron. But I'll acquiesce due to boredom with the topic.

Which leaves the team in an infinitely better position to contend in the future than it would if they traded for Skinner/Kessel/Sharp. Like I said, I'm fine with low risk moves. I do hope you realize that some of you guys are going to have zero credibility if Semin comes in and contributes.

Why does this board want a guy

And Dupuis and Kunitz were obviously battling their own health issues. If healthy, there's no reason to believe Dupuis can't score 20 again, or Kunitz can't score 30.

At least they'll try.

Something I just saw on Frasen

@steveburtch Cody Franson is Top 20 in hits for 3 years in a row, top 20 in points per 60, top 20 in possession impact... but let's trust that eye test.
