All I see is Semin all over this blog.

Sign this guy. Boyes would be a very good pick up (in the Comeau type of pick up)

This makes far too much sense. no way it happens to these Penguins .

Possible top 6 on the cheap, clearly will be signing in Philly.

Semin and Boyes seem like no brainers here. Two guys mngmnt likes.

Re-sign Comeau and Winnik and we'll have a good core of 3rd/4th line players.

Semin will sign in Pittsburgh and put up 50+ points.
- BINGO!

He might in the regular season....but come playoff time he will be ready for an extended vacation. His playoff #'s are pretty bad for a guy who has such "talent".

Maybe trading Geno would be the easiest way to find him a winger...

Sign him for around 3 mil for 1 year. Still leaves you with the possibility of making the rumored sutter+ for Oshie deal. If I'm JR, I'm buying out scuds

Trade sutter and harrington for oshie. Signed Semin and other Russians. Kept Scuds bc i sadly see them keeping him. Trade Kunitz for cap relief. Top 9 i think is really good, D is alil weak but can make a move at deadline to sure it up. Obviously can still trade spaling for more cap relief.

I don't think Winnik is coming back, as much as I'd like him. Still hopeful on Comeau coming back though.

Doesnt sound like either are coming back. Im ok with that.

I think teams know how desperate the Pens are and asking a lot for the Pens needs. I think if Kuni was worth a 2nd, it would have happened. So IDK, Pens roster will be ugly in Oct.

I was totally against trading assets for Semin even at cap retained but I see literally no downside to giving him a one year prove it deal. Yeah, Sid and Geno don't like him but if they're the team leaders they're suppose to be then they'll get over it. If Semin doesn't work out then we let him walk. No harm no fowl. It's not like we need the three mil or so cap space that he'd take up. We're not gonna be trading for anyone at the deadline since we have no assets to do so. I think if we make this one year signing, manage to get one of Frolik or Franson, get both Russians, sign a depth center and work something out for another top 6er for minimal assets like Oshie then we're in buisness. Make sure Kunitz, Sutter, and Spaling are all gone to fit under the cap.

Agreed also gives all of our prospects time to grow.

Maybe I missed it, but did someone have a link to 87/71 not liking Semin?

God you can't make a sentence with Semin without it sounding weird

Terrible idea. Sucked and lazy with the Caps same with CAR, why would Pitt be any different?

Scuds, Kuni, Sutter, Dupes, Spaling are all still on this roster....I guess theres no market for trash?

19 points in 55 games this year. People continue to forget those numbers and make excuses for him ... poopty team, broken wrist, whatever.

Concerning for me

@ice_chip: Francis noted Canes talk about accountability and maintaining a consistently high compete level. "We felt (Semin) had not held up to that."

Better than trading for Skinner, Sharp, or Kessel. Though I do think the longer Kessel and Sharp stay on the market, the lower the return will be. Eventually CHI will have to give Sharp away. Which is probably what he is worth at that age and salary.

how are those not legitimate excuses? 30 year olds dont just suddenly get terrible from age.

There was clearly something else going on.

His shooting percentage was a career low 6.5%. about half of his career 12.8%.

That could either be a sore wrist or bad luck. But i can tell you it's not laziness or just sudden badness of a 30 year old. Unless the wrist is going to be a lingering thing.
