What else is new?

My take is that Semin, Parenteau, Frolik, Franson and Moore should be on the radar. We'll probably only get one forward and one defenseman but the list of FAs is growing because of contracts teams want shed. Time to capitalize.

I agree on the last blog about Saad too. Be more Murray-like and less Rutherford-like. Grow a pair and send an offer sheet. It's competitive sports not happy go lucky fun time.

I've been wanting Semin for awhile... also I am making every post sounds as awkward as possible regarding my longing for Semin to come for Malkin.

Since Rinaldo was traded for a 3rd and Martin Jones was just traded for a 1st I'd say teams are happy to overpay in picks for garbage/risk.

That Rinaldo deal is WTF. I can't believe another team wanted that bag of sh!t. So glad he's out of our division. I imagine Downie will be a Bruin soon.

Sign him for around 3 mil for 1 year. Still leaves you with the possibility of making the rumored sutter+ for Oshie deal. If I'm JR, I'm buying out scuds

I agree entirely. My UFA list of interest in priority would be:
Parenteau, Semin, Boyes, Frolik, Franson.

Semin or Kessel will cause dissension in the room.

Problem is, Pens are normally the guys who are first in line at the public perception party. (Read:Despres for Lovejoy, Brandon Sutter, Nick Spaling, Rob Scuderi, etc.) Main reason we have 2 valuable young players and haven't won a Cup in 6 years

You know this how? Winning solves everything. That is if there are indeed issues. Talent helps win. I'll take it and not look back.

Sounds like 6 years, 5.75M for Hamilton. That seemed well in the range the Bruins could afford.

Semin has the skill. You can question his defensive game all you want, but the fact is that he was on a weak defensive team in Washington and Carolina. If you are really that worried about his defensive play, stick him with Sid and horn

THIS is unfortunately true. They put a lot in the brand. They would be far better off if they were more ruthless at times and did what was ABSOLUTELY best for the team to move forward in this era of the game.

Andersen wrote a blog saying the Bruins were offering 5.5 per season. Can't believe the Bruins couldn't fit that in

His defensive game is solid. He is excellent at getting the puck away from attacking players.

Problem last year was his shot. He couldn't shoot the puck properly coming off of wrist surgery, and it started affecting his game. Positionally, he was doing the right things, but you could tell his confidence had hit rock bottom as he struggled to make things happen on the offensive side of the ice.

If he can't recover from his wrist injury, it's a major concern.

Penguins trying to get a few things done today via trade, scenarios that would also create roster flexibility to get creative, keep Martin

That's exactly it.

Guy can still play, absolutely. But his inability to shoot the puck the way he used to really messed with him last season.

His shots for and production declined sharply last year. Whereas all his other underlying numbers were still strong. If he can't recover from his wrist injury, it's not worth pursuing him.
