If the Hawks wanted a young center, we really couldn't match Dano.
Still, maybe the Bowman is the greatest talk will die down. This looks much worse than the Despres trade. Start listing the best players on the Hawks he signed or traded for. - Tojo.
We should now cherish JR for that Despres trade after what Boston did, and this Saad joke Chicago accepted... |

For as good as the Hawks are they could be a lot better. Bowman got very poor returns on Ladd, Buffuglien, Leddy and now Saad.

Just got a text from my friend from the Pens and he says that everyone in the hockey ops in the pens are just stunned right now. He says they felt their offer was way better but from what he said the deal DID NOT include Maatta but instead was Pouliot. He also said that next year's first wasnt involved.
the deal breaker apparently was kapanen. CHI liked him but didnt like how he wasnt NHL ready yet. Had he been closer to NHL duty, the Penguins would likely have Saad right now.
WOW. - SuperHenderson13
As always, thanks for the insight. If Pittsburgh was offering Pouliot, let alone with Kapanen, I'm not blaming GMJR. |

Well looks like they'll keep Sharp now (that's good for us). OK, I'm over it; let's move on. - errey12
It's funny that the Hawks reportedly wanted a 1st, a top 6 and a prospect for Sharp and then they settle for that return on Saad |

So... we are now loving JR because hes not making those kind of cluster(frank) of deals? Or just more tolerant. |

I wish, but I wouldn't be sure about that. They still need to shed more salary. |

Lewis Gross, agent for Brandon Saad, disputes that they asked for a 6-year deal. Won't say how many years but six wasn't discussed. |

Thought I read somewhere it was 4 or 5 years and only wanting upper 4 million a year? |

I agree. Pouliot and Kapanen is a major return. Oh well. Saad was good and is worth $6.5m/yr, but it's not the end of the world either. |

Bowman re-loaded with youth. Only thing I don't understand is Anisimov. He's not gonna be cheap next season. |

If so, then that makes CHI look even worse. |

You kidding me? Dano is going to be a real nice player. They aren't as strong as they were an hour ago, but they're still good. |

Ok, GMJR needs to breathe and call up Doug Armstrong and work on getting Oshie with giving up Maatta or Pouliot and call it a day trade wise. |

My guess is they play him in a depth role and maybe try to flip him near the deadline if they don't look like contenders. |

Can't tell me that Dano is worth Saad... or was a better potential than Pouliot...
Chicago didn't want him coming here... and I don't believe that 6.5 for 6 years until its inked. I think thats one of those fake media leaks to justify the trade and then they claim he signed for less. |

It was a trade for the future. Weakens them in the immediate term, but likely turns out a better team in the long run. Not a concept Pens fans have ever really encountered aside from the Staal trade. |

Agreed. Bowman has had this amazing rep, but Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, and Crawford were all Tallon gets.
Frankly, even Sweeney did better for Hamilton. |

There's still plenty of time left for Rutherford to do something stupid. Or smart actually. |

And if that Dano doesn't pan out... it will be the worst deal that happened this year. |
