so what does the Leafs/Boston Kessel trade actually amount to now for the Bruins?
- ILoveLamp

Not perfect because of the 7 player trade involving Seguin, but it would essentially be this...

Kessel

for

Eriksson
Reilly
Jakub Zboril
Brandon Carlo
Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson
Jared Knight

Seven hundred goals
- robin_steele264

You have to AVERAGE 35 goals per season for 20 SEASONS to get 700 goals.

From last blog but had to be addressed... You're half right, it's not even close, you just got your little signs facing the wrong way.

Over 1235 points under 1495 games and he's a D.
I can only assume you are too young to remember Housley with the Sabres and Jets. Only reason he didn't win Norrises is because he played on the Bourque & Coffey eras

- Big_Lightnin

Lindros is the only generational talent to enter the NHL since Gretzky and Lemieux. He dominated the league for several years in a way Crosby could only dream of. The only reason his career was cut short was he was the victim of a head shot from one of the biggest cheap shot artists in the history of the NHL. The fact that that player is in the hall of fame and Lindros isn't demonstrates clearly where the NHL stood on head shots before legal forced them to change their message.

As for Housley, he was an outstanding offensive defenseman who was, quite frankly, horrific in his own zone. Coffey had the odd brain fart in his own end too, but he generally recovered in time to correct it. Lindros had more impact on the game than both.

Kessel

for

Eriksson - could be a cap dump if next season doesnt go well
Reilly - decent, but nothing great
Jakub Zboril - good prospect
Brandon Carlo - pretty good prospect
Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson - pretty good prospect
Jared Knight - likely a fringe NHL'r

Lindros was the beastiest of beasts I have and will ever see play this game. He needs to be in the HOF.

Devil's Advocate says:

jumbo joe - new team strips C, later on public feud with the GM calling him a liar
kessel - convinces teammates to snub fan salute, later throws a fit to beat reporter in dressing room blaming management for the team's poor play
seguin - makes homophobic slur when traded
hamilton - ?

- 1979AD

The part where Kessel called out that reporter, who's name I'm drawing a blank on but still recall enough of his work to call him a hack, an idiot should count as a positive. In my opinion.

Right... if you finish your junior career and play a year in the AHL and break into the league at 21, you need to play through 41 years old, never getting a long term injury, averaging what we celebrate Phil Kessel for doing most years, every single year. It's kind of hard and a rare feat to do.

I think there are 3 types of HOFers - the consistently good+ performers over a long period of time (Gartner, Robitaille, etc.), the electric superstars that played on another level for a short time (Orr, Lindros, Bure, Federov, etc.), and Wayne Gretzky.

Jvr - Kadri - ?
Lupul - Holland- Panik
Winnik - Hodgson - Bailey
Leivo - Komarov - Carrick

Hoping that the Leafs do trade Kessel we'll most likely end up with a cap dump to fill the hole one the top line. I know there's been nothing reported out of Washington in awhile but I could see Kessel in a capitals jersey come training camp. If the Leafs did trade kessel we would probably end up with Laich as our plug in. I would really like to see Johanssen in the blue & white but I highly doubt the Capitals move him.

Lupul will most likely be back on the team because he is more of a liability than an asset. I can't see the Leafs moving Jvr unless it's a head spinning proposal. Jvr has a very reasonable contract for what he can bring to the table. If Kessel is gone then it's safe to assume Bozak will be too. Right now the market is thin for Bozak but once free agency begins and teams sign ufa there will be gm's calling.

I still remember the Marchant hit on him, right in the centre of the chest, broken ribs, collapsed lung, thought he was going to die.

The beer in my avatar is a Sam Adams 26.2.

Only available for a short time, in select bars in New England, in the weeks before the Boston Marathon.

You want this beer, Wodsie?

This would be a lot funnier for me if the IDIOT BRUINS didn't totally (frank)ing giftwrap a 22 year old stud Dman to the Flames.

I honestly did read yesterday that Neely and Chia have a hate-on for each other now and Boston was sure Edm. was going to offer sheet Hamilton. So they traded him to Cal. out of spite. Doesn't sound like a recipe for success in building a team and I would think Neely is smarter than that, but that's what I read.
