From last blog but had to be addressed... You're half right, it's not even close, you just got your little signs facing the wrong way.

Over 1235 points under 1495 games and he's a D.
I can only assume you are too young to remember Housley with the Sabres and Jets. Only reason he didn't win Norrises is because he played on the Bourque & Coffey eras

- Big_Lightnin

I liked Housley. Probably gets a bit of a US discount to go into the HHOF. I won't go off on an angry tirade.

But for a few years, Lindros was the most exciting player in the league to watch, period. Nobody had what he had - super skill and super brawn.

It's insane that he isn't in the HHOF.

Devil's Advocate says:

jumbo joe - new team strips C, later on public feud with the GM calling him a liar
kessel - convinces teammates to snub fan salute, later throws a fit to beat reporter in dressing room blaming management for the team's poor play
seguin - makes homophobic slur when traded
hamilton - ?

I agree Lindros should be in, and there are some in ahead of him who shouldn't be. Phil Housley isn't one of them. If he had retired after 15 seasons like a normal super human, he would have been a PPG career....as a defenceman. But he played 6 more seasons, 5 of hose at a pretty decent level production wise.

Housley was a stud.

6th rounder in 82. 66pts 82/83 season

Now, points were easier to come by back then of course, but still...

I just don't agree with what seems to be the HHOF's criteria these days: preference to guys who had long careers.

Mike Gartner was never named to a 1st or 2nd all-star team. He never won a single NHL award. He was never the most exciting player on the ice. Nobody ever bought a ticket to see Mike Gartner.

Was he good? Hell yes. He played for Team Canada.

But his claim to fame is being the guy who was good-to-great (but never a superstar) for the longest period of time.

HHOF thinks that's induction-worthy.

I disagree.

He had 100 point seasons, and 50 goal seasons!
fastest skater in the game for years.

not saying hes my favorite or anything, but he was certainly well above average...he was a FORCE for the Capitals back in the day.
